Peter,

I was going to say that it looks to be some sort of Military Engineer vehicle but the details don't seem right for that.  The ME vehicles for water operations that I've seen tend to be smaller or more specialized.  That is, if they're intended for creating floating bridge sections then that's about all they do.  If they're intended to operate on both water and land then their floatation mechanisms are integral to their design - not folded up on or above the vehicle as is the case in this image.

So, this leads me to believe the vehicle shown in the image is intended for exploration in a river/ march prone region.  Thus it has treads and water screws but its floatation capability is one that much be specifically deployed.  Note also the relatively large size of the hull/ body above the treads.  That's a lot of room there behind the front cab.  That seems more in line with crew cabin space than anything military.

It'd be interesting to see what this thing actually is.

Peter,

Looks civilian (though possibly a conversion of a military vehicle) - possibly used for emergency work.  I have seen similar before, but I am at a loss to the designation of this one.

Looks sort of like a Russian equivalent to the German M-2 Alligator amphibious ferry, like the GSP-55:

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

The undercart reminds me of an Elephant, longer, but an Elephant, never the less.
A whatif vehicle?

Looks like one of those japanese sailing vehicles.

The running-gear looks very similar to the MLRS chassis but extended by three or four wheels/bogies. The prop on the rear looks like it's been stolen from an unsuspecting Schwimwagen and the loads on the side look like pontoon elements to me.

Hmmmmmm, think this could be a CGI What If. I tend to agree with Madoc it seems far too large for a modern engineering vehicle. Think of the weight of the vehicle and its' load and the terrain it would have to move through. It seems far too heavy, (remember the biggest downfall of all the 'Super Tanks' - Tortoise/Maus/Elefant etc - was their lack of mobility and suitable roads to move on).

Sure its not a late war model or a prototype for a German mobile river ferry. The concept the Germans developed post war into the truck based M2 "Alligator". The Chassis with its track layout reminds me of the German late war style for heavy tanks.

You might try to look here:

On the website i found these Panzer IV conversions:

The two that are linked together, look a bit like 2 of your unidentified vehicles.

Peter,

Thanks for the info - it was driving me crazy not knowing what it was.  I suppose that since Czechoslovakia (and hence the Škoda Works) were under German control during 1943, it is kind of German.  Here is a forum with some more pictures (including the original one you showed):

Do you have anything in English - I'd like to know the background to the real vehicle?
