Oh,...I'm sorry, just poking around for some update photos :P  ;)  :)

Kitnut, it's a B-17/KC-135, with a pinch of B-24. If you'd like to see more,

I'm a little delayed on the undercarriage at the moment. The B-17 u/c doesn't attach well to the Merlin nacelles, and I have no spare Lancaster u/c as the original was used on my Jet Testbed Lancaster LL735 (from where I swiped the Merlins):

So I'm experimenting with a scratch build B-17M u/c. Other than that (and decals) it's nearly complete. I'll post more pics once it's up on its custom u/c.

It's very plausible as it really existed, not a What-if :)

I was just showing it to illustrate where I obtained the 4 Merlins for my B-17M...

OK, my hairbrained idea for a Lanc - Sweep the wings probably to abut 30 degrees and add twin podded jets to them. Result a pure Jet powered Lacaster bomber. Is this doable?

Certainly do-able. One of the Test bed Lancastians had two podded jets on the wings - but no sweep:

But I'm doing that with a Mosquito next....

Once the B-17M is complete, watch this space :)

hat sounds a good plan to me. I already have the parts I need for the Mossiejet and intend to start it in two weeks time.

Hi Julian,

Have you seen the two view sketch of the the Jet Mosquito that's in Tony Buttler's book 'British Secret Projects-Fighters and Bombers 1935-1950.  In the plan view it looks like the standard Mosquito wing was turned around so that it has a swept leading edge and a straight trailing edge.  The two jets are underslung in pods similar to the pods on my MetroVick Meteor.

Cheers,  Robert
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

No, I haven't seen that. But I will be seeing it soon, as I've just ordered all three of his British themed Secret Project books. So I'll have a look for it when it arrives to see if I can glean some ideas.

Thanks
