What kind of file?

What kind of file do pics have to be? I can't post any it keeps telling me "can't use that file". I need to know how to make them smaller also. Thanks for any help.

Anything under 75k.

Have to be JPEGs as well.  I edit the size of mine in MS Paint, then save them as JPEGs.
