When the Allies moved into Germany at the end of WW2, they started to realise how advanced their enemy was. With the US and British airfirces flying their jets in small numbers, it was decided to adapt the German fighters to their Air Forces, rather that keep making their own. With the German machines, they could add their own ideas to each design.
This is the RAF All Weather Fighter, 'The Meteorite'. As you can see, the engines are now situated in the wing, and the tailplane has been lifted and raised. The four Aden cannons are now around the cockpit area. The undercart has also been changed, but this is not obvious in this photo.

Model :Revell 1/72 Me-262B night fighter.

Lovely model, wonderful idea!
It is even more pleasant for French readers, pronouncing Meteorite with a final eet, not ait in the English way, so French could write Météorhitt like Messerchmitt...
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

Nifty little idea

Overall silver with full colour roundels?

Tidbit on the name 'Meteorite':
"A Later development from the V-12 Rover Meteor was the 'Meteorite' engine range, which was essentially two thirds of a 'Meteor', being a V-8 while the 'Meteor' was a V-12. Meteorites were developed during the late 1940's and were built in both petrol and diesel engine forms for vehicles, for marine use and for use as stationary power units. The mighty 'Antar' tank transporter, built by Thornycroft, was powered by a 'Meteorite', and was often seen dragging 'Meteor' engined tanks around the world."

Very clever, very believable.

And, a step away from Axis subjects for you, too (well, almost!).
