While making my diorama base, I needed to make the fake grass fibers stand up, like real grass. Luckily, I bought a very cheap bug zapper (shaped like a small racket) years ago, with the plan to turn it into a static grass applicator here's an example. I found an old strainer and after a few minutes, it was built. It works fairly well; the grass does stand on end. Amazingly, I have yet to shock myself:

Very cool!  Thanks for posting the link.

This is man-in-a-shed invention at its very best

Very good.  But I doubt it was as cheap as my static grass applicator which came from a chinese auction site and is very shoddily made.  Your one probably works better though.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

Great Frank I started out with one of these, using the same method. It did work quite well.

If you ever feel the need to finesse a bit and still DIY.. I built this version and it is terrific

I used 3D prints rather than the wood for parts of it

That one looks great - I may try that since it looks safer. Bolder Creek railroad has a lot of cool info; I downloaded some of their STL parts years ago.

Yea, but yours probably spies on you and is programmed to explode when WWIII breaks out
