Turning the Mach2 DH Comet 4C into the BAe Nimrod MR.1

With prices for the 1/72 Airfix BAe Nimrod starting to rise as it's the only plastic kit in this scale at the present time, could the Mach2 DH Comet 4C be converted?
 Having read a few reviews and using quite a few aftermarket products something achievable can be built with help from a vacformed kit in creating the panier weapons bay.
I have the Airfix kit in the stash and my intention is to demilitarize it for civilian use so some of these parts will be used.
Another option is the Maritime Comet as mentioned in the book ' Nimrod's Genesis ' written by Chris Gibson.
