Quote from: MikoLee on July 13, 2026, 04:14:56 AMLooks pretty amazing, going with dark green/ocean grey camo works well, probably better than 80's RAF air superiority greys which would look more like a regular F-14

Had the RN kept Ark Royal, RN F-14 would have been pretty special too in Falklands service

Not sure but i think i've seen one before in the forum, what about a RN F-14 with the blue and white scheme that the Harrier used...

That's actually Extra Dark Sea Grey (sprayed) over white (it looks blueish under some lights). However on the way down to the Falklands, all the SHARs were repainted (with brushes) in overall Extra Dark Sea Grey (800 & 801 Sqns) or Medium Sea Grey (809 Sqn) with squadron markings painted over.

Ok, thanks for clarifying that.   I never thought it was a grey tone because i've always seen it as a dark blue and it's how i've seen it in pics and even the kit boxes show a dark blue. For example, the 1/72 Hasegawa kit, the Kinetic 1/48 kit, the Tamiya 1/32 kit, all look blue in the box art. Even the Matchbox die-cast Harrier toy i had as a kid was dark blue on top...
It's always looked to me as a gloss dark blue, similar to late WWII Corsair and Hellcats.

It seems to depend on the surface finish. When EDSG has a satin or gloss finish, it tends to look VERY blue in a lot of lights, but when it's matt, or faded, or worn, it's definitely grey. I can totally understand an artist looking at a few pics and deciding it's blue.
