This build is based on the Revell 1/72 Blohm & Voss Bv222 v5 Wiking model kit, I have removed the front cannon from the nose and glued a strip of plastic to the side. When dry filled the hole with Milliput filler. I also blanked over the gun positions along both sides of the fuselage, glued the bulkheads before joining the two halves together. I have strengthened the nose joint with a few more strips of plastic and added some weight before gluing it in place.
There's no cockpit detailing. The tail has the twin-tail fins from a Airfix Avro Shackleton, the ECM pod is off the Mach2 Breguet Atlantic and MAD boom is from a Airfix HS/BAe Nimrod kit. On top of the fuselage is a radome from the Revell Avro Shackleton AEW2.
I changed the six engines down to four with Pratt & Whitney R-4360 radial pistons taken from the Academy Boeing C-97 and I'm now in the process of removing them for the Laci Allison 501 turboprops. The outer engines have been capped off with the AIM Transport Wings XCG-17 conversion set for the Dakota Glider model.
The wheels are off a Academy Boeing KB-29P and dipping sonar was the retractable radar from the Airfix Avro Shackleton MR.2. The nose wheels come from a C-130.
