I have been trying to assemble the necessary kits to build my version of the Beriev A-40 Albatross . There was a 1/144 scale model kit but I have decided to use the 1/72 Mach2 Martin SeaMaster as this kit is in need of a few improvements.
Past experience has taught me that the interior cockpit needs to be scratch built or parts from the spares box fitted. One side of the kit fits perfectly whilst the other needs to be persuaded and refined.
I will be using the CFM turbofan engines fitted above the wing roots and the landing gear from the Italeri Lockheed Martin C-27J Spartan, this will be recycled from the Sea Victor R.1 along with most of the lumps & bumps on the build. Cracks have appeared causing a few parts to dislodge hence the new build.

Work has started on the 1/72 Mach2 Martin SeaMaster model kit. The cockpit went together without any hiccups and surprisingly the clear canopy fits perfectly. The same can't be said of the rest of the build. There's no gaps underneath only on top. The vertical tail fin has been glued in place but there are gaps.I have added the tail guns from a B-52G and super glued them in place at the rear end.
I will leave this overnight to set.
I have been dry testing parts of the beaching trolley by turning them upside down, if I cut a couple of slots in the fuselage I might be able to scratch build the landing gear using spare parts.

The wings, floats and T-tail have been glued on, PSR has been started as there's lots of gaps. I have installed my experimental main landing gear which has two tyres at the moment.

The Vulcan guns.

It's going to need a pair of rear wheels to prevent a tail sitter.

The CFM turbofan engines are from the Combat Conversions Boeing RC-135W Airseeker CC72-009 set and a couple of spare parts that I found during a rummage of my hobby room.
