Replacing AK Interactive Real Colors Markers tips

My AK Interactive Rubber Black marker is running out - it's gotten a lot of use over the last 18 months - so I wondered if I could "refill" it with AK Interactive rubber black paint (jury's still out, I think the verdict will be "no") I removed the somewhat rounded felt tip and discovered it had a sharp point on the other end:

(note, this is not a cat turd) the left side was inside the pen:



It may be too late for this pen, but it may be a handy trick for pens that still work well, but have a tip that has become rounded with use.
