Nothing stopping you making one that got to the prototype stage, of course... 
P-40 style retracting gear, into gondolas if the wing isn't thick enough.

Not much room for anything too large in the way of armaments, but at that time they were often .30s anyway.

Had a minor incident in which the upper wings broke off, that's why the gaps are there, but they will be rectified. Paints are all the same shade, might be the LED lights in the paint shop making them look weird.

I do like the Blue & Yellow schemes, closely followed by the Olive & Yellow. 

What was the difference? USAAF vs USN?

That scheme reminds me of the one used on one Tiger Moth of the Aeronáutica Militar Portuguesa.
