The Wooksta!

"No, I didn't, Mike, I said "Let's throw Rick's record player on the fire, that'll be good for a laugh."

I hadn't intended to put this up so early, but as it's a parallel build, kind of, with the Highball Sea Hornet (see Buzz Buzz), I though I may as well.

Another Skybirds Hornet, the first one I actually got, way back in 1990.  It got built in 2000, as a 23 sqn example, and even went to Telford.  But I was never entirely happy with it, so it got stripped, languished in a box until 2020 and was rebuilt and got to the primer stage.  And it languished again for another five years until I dragged it out last week.

A fresh coat of primer, and then some new paint.  I'm intending to again do it as a 23 Sqn aircraft - IF I can find the correct size codes - and with wartime roundels and a couple of swastikas as kill markings.  Same as before.

This is as far as it's got, with the relevant areas getting a coat of varnish to allow me to decal them later.  The ancillary bits, such as the doors, underwing bomb racks, and exhausts, have had a coat of paint and just need some satin varnish.  The undercarriage legs have had a fresh coat of Aluminium, but I'll need to steal a set of wheels as one has gone walkies, along with the tailwheel.  I did get a cheap Skybirds Hornet some years back (which annoyingly I can't find...) to break for spares, but I'd planned on dropping the wheels into rubber to tart up the many Novo ones kicking about.  And whilst the bubble for the navigator is in the box of bits, the canopy has also vanished.  I think I have a spare one somewhere.

Like the Highball Sea Hornet, this will likely get decalled in a day or so.  Would be nice to have the pair finished.

I may do some decalling on this later as I've found some 24in Dull Red codes but TBH, these are very hard to get hold of now so I may just put the national markings on and shelve it until at least Sunday.  Hopefully Paul Davies will be at Bolton and he may well have some Almark sheets of RAF codes tucked away.  If he hasn't got any, then they're long gone.

It's a Land Rover, NOT a Jeep .

The national markings are now one, spare from a Tamiya Mosquito that went SEAC instead.  I've also mugged up a serial, PX417, also using the Tamiya decals and some Xtradecal letters.  It's one of the cancelled F3s, so would be suitable for an extended war.

Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .
