Oh you bet i build enemy tanks matey  ;D
Strangely i've always thought of cop cars as enemy cars

Oddly, I used to drive cop cars.  :police:

Cops aren't my enemy, it's those sneaky b@$t@rd$ in the speed camera vans - They are the Enemy!  :dalek:  :dalek:  :dalek:
Here in NZ everybody see cop cars as enemy's bud ,, they seem more concerned with giving out speeding tickets for the most ridiculous reasons ,,like a lady here at the camp who got a ticket for being 5 kph over the speed limit ,,things like that mate and it gets much worse this time of year ... the dudes with the cameras ,,,oh i'm pretty sure ppl have put  hits out on them  ....it's times like this when a directional EMP weapon would be bloody brilliant  ;D

I've got a "hack" for beating the speed cameras.

I drive below the speed limit...

 :o

I didn't used to.  But it just got too expensive so I like to feel i am frustrating them by keeping my money where it belongs.

I do tend to drive at the speed limit but the problem is that the camera cars tend to like parking near changes in speed zones (of which there are a plethora in Adelaide), many of them not well signed & the work cars don't have dash cam's, so you can't argue the point with evidence.

The buggers have only got me once! Coming off a 60km/h road onto a WIDER!, DIVIDED! 50km/h road, with only one sign right after the corner, only visible at the point where a decent driver would be looking to the right for oncoming traffic - my off-sider noticed it & brought it to my attention just as we reached the camera van.  :banghead:

They're still my sworn Enemy!, though.

I quite like the attitude of those who live in the South Netherlands (Harro and TomZ will know the proper name I'm sure) When 'the authorities' started putting up GATSO cameras there the general populace dropped large tyres around them and set them on fire!

A trifle extreme perhaps but no-one got any speeding tickets for some time.

Which is why the cameras in rural France are fitted inside concrete pill boxes.

Read my later post.   ;)

Which rule do I comply with? Looking around the corner for a speed sign (which might not exist) while the car to my right ploughs into the side of my car, or look to the right to avoid a MVA & miss the miniscule opportunity to see the speed sign (if it is there)?

Look up what protest groups have been doing to the "ULEZ" expanded charging zone cameras in London...

(Won't go into further details on here to avoid politics)

The only time I've bene flashed by a speed camera was in a situation where I was on a motorbike, trying to get away from other peoples' dangerous driving and no traffic cop on Earth would have said I did the wrong thing. Fortunately, this was back in the days when speed cameras had wet film in them and most of them were empty because the police couldn't afford to process & review that much film. This one was either empty or it's film had run out.

Like Womby, I do object to the effect they have on your driving/riding. You spend entirely too much time looking for cameras to avoid being punished for driving which is, objectively speaking, entirely safe, which takes your attention off things that might prove actually dangerous. I also resent the degree of extra stress and paranoia that this brings to what used to be an enjoyable drive in the country.

In case you're wondering, I'm no boy racer either. I have an entirely clean driving licence and always have had, and although I've had a fair few RTAs in cars and on bikes, I was always either the victim, or in the minority of cases where it was my fault, then nobody suffered injury or loss except me.

NARSES2

As a proffesional pedestrian I probably have a different viewpoint to the majority on here, but one trend that I have started to notice is the number of drivers , especially during the morning "school rush", who seem to think that when the lights on a pedestrian crossing turn to red to allow safe passage this actually means that the next 2 cars racing to beat them are allowed through. It's starting to get very dangerous
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

And it's very stupid too. When the orange light comes on they should start braking right away, unless they're only a car length or two away from the lights.

That's one of the things i miss about riding a bike ..not having to worry about those fecking cameras or traffic jams ,, since the license plate is mounted only on the back of bikes here your always driving at the suckers and they don't have cameras going both ways they can flash all they want ,,they aint seeing doo doo
As for traffic jams ,,just hit your hazard lights and away you go ..if your on a old bike without hazard lights ,,just use your indicator and have it locked for left or right ,,here if you do that and ya ain't riding like a (very naughty word) the cops don't bother you at all  ;D
