Diesel Locomotive V188

The DRG series D311 was designed as a locomotive to serve as traction for the 80 cm railway guns, the "Dora" and the "Schwerer Gustav 2". It was a locomotive that consisted of two pairs. Four pairs of locomotives were produced by the Krupp company on behalf of the Wehrmacht. In 1941, the first two were delivered as D311.01 A/B and D311.02 A/B and were intended for the "Dora". In 1942, the D311.03 A/B and D311.04 A/B followed for the "Schwerer Gustav 2". The D311.05 and 06 were destroyed before they were finished.

The D311.04A/B was left behind in Sluiskil in the Netherlands at the end of the Second World War and was transferred to the diesel locomotive workshop in Utrecht in late 1945/early 1946. For reasons that are unclear, the locomotive was designated L5 by the Dutch Railways (NS). Probably this was simply the fact that this was the 5th locomotibe brought here after the war. Due to its high axle load, among other things, this locomotive was never used here. In 1949, it returned to Germany.

The locomotive then returned to service with DB as V188 002 A/B, where the D311.03 A/B was also operational as V188 001 A/B. In 1951, the D311.02 A/B was also purchased and put into service as V188 003 A/B. The V188 was later renamed to BR288. (Baureihe 288). The last V188 was retired in 1972.

But that if the L5 was put into service with the Dutch Railroad (Nederlandse Spoorwegen).

That looks a hefty piece of loco Tom, what power rating was each half please?

It does look neat in your NS scheme, very nice.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
