There has been two flying examples of a V/STOL Ekranoplan, both being built in Russia but never achieved service status.
The Bartini-Beriev VVA-14 and the Tumenecotrans BARS which resulted in the Bella-1 airship hybrid.
Both were designed to be multipurpose and fly from, sand, ice, water or land using forward and V/STOL propulsion. Unfortunately the VVA-14 was never fitted with the lifting engines but did have an aircraft style landing gear or a pair of inflatable pontoons for landing on water, sand or marshland, whilst the
Bella-1 had a hovercraft styled skirt, lifting fan, wings and a twin tail-boom with a pair of turboprop engines.
I haven't been able to find a model kit for the Bella-1 but there's a few 1/72 Bartini-Beriev VVA-14s,  early examples only have the fixed landing gear and the other one has both options but is slightly more expensive.
I intend to use another Revell 1/144 A-90 Orlyonok or a 1/144 Lun-class as the missile silos could be converted into lifting engines.

There are three 1/72 kits of the VVA-14.
One with no floats, one with rigid floats, and one with inflatable floats (AKA Balloon Test version).
I have the no floats and the inflatable floats by ModelsVit and the rigid floats by A&A Models.  They are all three the same basic moulds with additional parts added as required.
The balloon test version may have vinyl parts for the balloons, I can't remember and don't fancy going out in the dark to the shed to look.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

Do ekranoplans fit the rules of this GB?
Don't let ageing get you down, it's too hard to get back up

Yes they do, I have asked the same question and it's been approved by the mods.

The review I saw contained etched metal parts for the balloon test version and quite a few decals for the interior although you might not see them through the glazing.

I can't remember mate.  It's a long time since I had a rummage through the boxes.
