Same root, it's not actually, but ................

As an interesting aside today 30th May is the 66th anniversary of the launching of the first full size experimental hovercraft, the SR-N1. (Courtesy of the I newspaper's daily Anniversaries piece).

Regrettably, no connection between the words in question

Origin of flaccid      First recorded in 1620–30; from Latin flaccidus "flabby, drooping," equivalent to flacc(ēre) "to grow weak, languish"
Origin of flatus        1660–70;  New Latin; Latin:  blowing,

but much more to the point, isn't the i newspaper's anniversaries section fascinating?

"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you....."
It  means that you read  the instruction sheet

It is indeed, and it quite often will come up with a piece that has me digging further into it.
