Sweet... I'm loving this one.

Well, as promised, here are the pics of the completed build.  The radio antenna wire was originally quite a bit tighter... right up until I snapped off the forward mast while getting her ready for pics.  :banghead:

All in all I'm happy. She's far from perfect, but I had a good time building her. I think I learn something new every build.of course that's doesn't mean I'm really getting better... but at least I'm making different mistakes!

Thanks!

My man!!!  I love it!!!   This is my speed all the way right here...

The wires and aerials stuff turned out great!!!!    Nice, glorious cockpit detail....  Paint scheme is just killer. I love the juxtaposing canopy framing colors like on the Crusader.

Just goes to show even with lil mistakes or setbacks here and there the overall presentation is what counts and as far as I'm concerned it's 100%.  Well done.

 :drink:

Makes me want to fire up the SNES and play U.N. Squadron.

Yeah, all in all, I think it looks pretty good.  Nice of you to notice the two-tone canopy.  One thing I'm struggling a bit with is how to interpret the more modern jets as WWII-era propos.  The canopyncolours were easy, but I struggled with the shark mouth. It's an important part of Shin's F-8E Crusader... but how best to move that to the Corsair?!

I also had some trouble with my metal finished on a wooden-fuselaged MiG-3... even though I was a lot less attached emotionally to that build.  I've stalled on my F7F Tigercat build because I'm trying to decide how best to channel Micky's F-14A Tomcat into that build.  The Playboy Bunny icon is the easy part... but do I really want a Dark Gull Grey colour scheme on a plane that was pretty much exclusively navy blue? I'm not even sure what colour to do the cockpit and wheel wells.

I know that this is WHIfWorld, so it doesn't really matter, but I'm trying to determine my own "internal baseline" reference point to help with this question as I move through the rest of the huge project.  Does "re-imagine" mean a) redo, logically or not, the same colour scheme as the "parent" build, or b) just try to guess what the planes would look like if the Area 88 storyline was set in the 1948-50 timeframe rather than 1978-80.

I'm doing a Yak-3 for the Soviet build which will be based on the Yak-38, so this problem will crop up again soon.
Thanks!

Heh. I ended up using a bit of my wife's hair  :o and then dry brushing on some "tire black" Tamiya enamel paint. Worked like a charm! Looked even better before I snapped the damn post off!
Thanks!

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

And I know what you mean about your baseline... that one's kind of tough.  I thought about it for a few minutes to see if I could help with the quandary but I'm as torn as you are, I guess!
