It's a 'different' day here when we DON'T hear a Spitfire of some sort flying over.  ;D  ;D

just got home from the undertaker this afternoon and ive seen something i havent seen since childhood.
overflying my home was the Goodyear Blimp, something i thougth i would never see again as there are hardly any blimps in this part of europe.

Apparently Goodyear's Euro-blimp (a Zeppelin NT semi-rigid airship) was in England, and headed back to its base at Friedrichshafen Airport today

A Zeppelin NT was doing tourist rides over San Francisco Bay from about 2008-2012.  It was perishingly expensive and even techies I knew at the time balked at the price. I liked seeing it in the air!

The old school Goodyear blimp had a set of lights on it that would spell out messages as it flew over stadiums at night.

And Goodyear built them themselves too!

That aircraft is as old as I am!
If someone complains about military spending I point out that the first two digits in the number 59-1470 is the year it was payed for and would they drive a car from 1959 to work everyday. The usual reply is something like, "Well, that's different!" How is it different? You're driving to work and they are flying to war in an aircraft older than the pilots father!
