What if.......Fokker developed the D-23 into a jet fighter. It must have had a RR Nene for engine and a circular intake like the Fokker S-14. The lay-out in general was much like the Dehavilland Vampire but with the wings and tailbooms of the D-23. This is what you get:

Funny story: I took this model to the ESM 2024 and TomZ overheard a conversation between two visitors that one of them had seen this model flying in real world... it's registration is supposed to be a hint

Don't you just LOVE it when that happens!  ;D

Some years ago some guy at a show we did swore blind he used to be a back seater in a tandem 2 seater Lightning that I had on display there!  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I hope they were not disabused of those notions.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Damn that's pretty!

I've long thought that a twin-boom, nose-intake fighter would be interesting.

Off-topic, but I had the "I've seen that flying" thing happen in 1/1 scale. I used to own a Matchless G80, which was an old-styled, modern-build motorbike, using the brand and model name of an old 1950s one. It wasn't anything like the old G80 in detail and wouldn't have fooled anyone who knew what they were talking about: it was an entirely modern bike, just with gold pinstriping, chrome mudguards and the name. One time an old guy came up to me at a petrol station to admire it, and about two sentences in, he said, "my dad used to ride one those in the war you know."

"Really?" I replied (yes, I had this one prepped and loaded...), "He must have been fighting for the wrong side then."

"What? Whaddaya mean?"

"Well this has an Austrian engine, Italian suspension and fuel tank and Japanese electronics, so..."

To be generous, I suppose he may have seen dH Vampires but, possibly, isn't familiar with the type & thought that what you built is what he saw.

Nice.

A Nene would be nice, but I'm not so sure that a broke Britain wouldn't fob old Wellands off on an equally broke
Netherlands.
;)
Of course, US funding underwriting the purchase of the Nene could be a possibility.
;D

Lots of folks have no idea about the registration or serial numbers. I've been learning as I go.

That's beautiful! The body reminds me a bit of the Dassault Mystère.

kerick

It has a much better and slimmer look to it.
