Here is a new proposal: Remember the wonderful H. G. Wells film Things to Come in 1936?  He was spot on in predicting the Blitz in 1940 ( from a 1936 perspective!) but had the war drag out for the next thirty years!
Any ideas of the start of the war and opposing forces according to Wells in 1940 or would it be the same as WW2 in OTL except for some differences?
Comments and ideas?

I always imagine what might of happened if Hitler wasn't so intent on invading nations beyond his capability (ie the USSR). What if he had of either stopped after conquering France? Or what if he took up Chamberlains offer of appeasement & stopped in Czechoslovakia? What if Germany never declared war on the U.S & the U.S only came into the war against Japan? Germany was well on the way to becoming a superpower, if they won the war or stopped earlier, I imagine the first man on the moon coming about earlier as well as space flight in general.

There is also the Wings Over The World group based in Basra and among their
forces are one-man and large flying wing designs used for transport and bombers utilising the "Gas of Peace" against the last warloads in Everytown in 1970.
Any comments on the WOTW group?

Well there is this model I built about a year ago:

Great one there!  Any thoughts on the big winged bomber-transports also used
by Wings Over The World in the film?

It's an odd shape, and big; in 1/144 scale it looks like it would have a 2 foot wingspan, or thereabouts (based on the figures entering the plane). The movie is in the public domain now, so you can download it from archive.org:

Any thoughts on the RAF and Luftwaffe as depicted in 1940 in the film?
I assume they would be the same as in OTL?

Brian da Basher

Well according to the film, the RAF and Luftwaffe were quite different than in OTL. In the film, the RAF was flying Hawker Furies (with spats  ) and the enemy was flying inline engined spatted monoplanes. I think the different forces may have evolved at a much technologically slower pace if you use the film as a guide.

The monoplane in the film is a Percival Mew Gull.

The Mew Gulls went through a variety of detail changes and redesigns in their lifetimes.
