P.S. I wonder if we could get one of our resident Viper fanatics to build one in this scheme?

I need some too, but I don't know if they're available without splurging on a kit of something. I'm doing one of those tiny Academy XB-70s in a blue and yellow pre-war scheme but I don't have any of those old markings.

Eagle Strike makes a sheet of inter-war U.S. star-and-meatball markings you can get Here. If I had any to spare, I'd gladly offer them up.

Cyber modeller has the same ship (I think) as their cover photo today.  That said, I'm confused as they have pre-War 'Star & Meatballs' on the wings and WW2 style 'Stars & Bars' & Codes on the fuse???  Am I missing something?

Well assuming this isn't a Photoshop job best guess would be it's an attempt to combine all the markings the unit's carried during their 90 years of service. You may have noticed the rudder has the old red-white-and-blue stripes yet the ailerons have the 1930s style 13 stripes. It wouldn't surprise me if the red-blue-white cockade was on the other wing or the undersurfaces.

Solved the problem! I just cut the bars off the side of the star and with a steady hand I used a Staedtler marker to add a central red dot. Admittedly the colour is probably a bit off, but in this tiny scale I ain't gonna bother with that much. Won't be doing the rest tonight though, I'm into the Scotch now!
