As sent to me  - no idea of the provenance. For budgie lovers everywhere!

Check out what some of our boys overseas
did to their helicopter.
This very special Mi-24 helicopter is presently
flying in Afghanistan, where it is no doubt
causing quite a stir.

If you thought that was good, check this out!

Hungarian she was indeed, you can see the Hungarian air force insignia on her tail in the first and third pictures.

As I recall, this scheme was her last before she was retired a couple of years ago. I have heard that she is in a museum now with this scheme still on her.

Would love to know what nitwit started the rumour that she was serving in Afganistan with these colours.

I had one friend insist that this was a US chopter, and they painted it as a bald eagle to frighten the Taliban.  Went back and showed her that the images are old, and that it was an urban myth.

Seems to crop up now and again.

I did hear that there is a grey version also, but haven't seen the pics.

Besides, the Afgans are that used to being shot at by Hinds that even one in a fancy paint job like that wouldnt worry them.
Just think..what was the main gunship used by the Soviets when they had their go at tameing the place?  The afgans called the Hind the "devils chariot". and for good reason.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.
