I am building a RWA Italeri F-5A Freedom Fighter, and im going to do it in Dutch colours. Problem is, manual says its supposed to have missile rails, but all pictures ive seen on the internet show wingtip pods/fuel tanks  which is correct?

Radish

Either.
But I'd go with tip tanks as most seem to have worn them semi-permanently.

I think all F-5s can carry either on their wingtips. Of course I'm guessing.....but to me, the 'coke bottles' always make the bird look better.

well, living next to them, i say the NF-5A/B used Both the missiles and the tiptanks, but if i recall correctly, the sidewinders on the tips were used by air defence squadrons, and the tiptanks by the ground attack squadrons. or both, i ts a bit confusing

but i think its the same as what the Canadians did with the CF-5's wingtips  B)

if it helps,

All F-5A/B variants can carry missile rails or tip tanks on the wingtips.  Technically, F05E/F aircraft can too, but in practice the tip tanks have never been officially cleared for use.  For that matter, I reckon they could be used on F-20s, too; I might consider that in doing my 3-seat courier version.

I have wanted to build an F-20 with wing tip tanks and in Canadian markings. Just have not gotten to that yet.

Ive only seen "Clog" F-5s with coke bottles on the tips.
A quick check through my pics from airshows past confirm this..................................so sidewinders it is.
