I want a 1/72nd A-20, but I can't find one.

Simple solution.....build ANY other light twin-engined bomber in the way I'd do the A-20.
It adds another "strand" or complication to whatiffery.

Simple really.

Can't find a P-47D.....
use a Hellcat, Bearcat, Fw-190, Sea Fury, Ki-84, etc.,

Can't find that Ki-61?
Use a Spitfire, Mustang, Bf-109, Macchi C202/5, etc..

Perhaps modify the donor kit a bit.

Useful if you can't find a Bloch 52....use an La-5 or 7.

I shall persue this idea. :dum:

Sounds a bit like the Movie thread we had recentley, if what you want isn't available, use what ever you've got that's closet, Buchon's for Bf-109's, Texans for zero's, F-16' for Tonadoes.....  Or on that last point, anything that even remotley resembles an aircraft!

You could get a few people scratching their heads on this one, I'd love too see a few JMN's get their knickers in a twist, convinced it's a real variant!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Exactly....a fully authentically built A-26 Invader in USAAF A-20G colours, or Aussie colours.

Not got a Fairey Battle? Build a B5N2 in the appropriate colours and say it's the Battle Mk.3 with a radial

This reminds me of an idea I had for a GB some time back but never posted, a 'swapsies' GB.  Take two aircraft of similar design & role & swap the markings & camo over, Fencer with a F-111, Wildcat with a Zero, Typhoon with a Rafale etc.  That simple.  The closer you match it the more you'll have people scratching their heads.  If you take it a bit further away than you could have some very different looking aircraft.
