QuoteHere's another P.112 artist impression that I found.

Six hardpoints for AAMs and two wingtip pods (probably as part of EW suite).
I've already said it at the secret projects board, but this P.116 pics looks a hell like a Gripen!
I've heard that the fan driven by the F-135 need a rather robust transmission - hell, that hundred thousands horsepowers, not the 90 hp of your diesel car...
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

That's kinda the thing that caught my eyes to begin with.

Oh, yeah, it definitely is.  The interesting thing is, at least the basic design concept can readily be found in the non-aeronautical world and routinely handling a couple thousand horsepower.  That's one of the best aspects of this program, they aren't limited by the NIH syndrome.

There was a conection between Saab and Bae on the P.106 project  ;)

Yup yup.  ^_^

So you know...... replacement to Mirage IIIV and GD Model 200 (now that I remembered, didn't the idea of GD Model 200 surface only slightly later than Mirage IIIV?) without resorting to F-35B...... it all depends on the practicality of RALS.

I'll simply say that this engineer has some severe doubts about the practicality of RALS.  I'd hesitate to say more unless I could actually look at the results of some large-scale (as close to 1:1 as possible) rig tests.  Between the potential duct losses for the flow to the remote nozzles and the extra fuel requirements, and plumbing, for augmenting those nozzles, I'd have to question the practicality.

QuoteYeah a flyoff between P.112 and General Dynamics type 200!
Now that I decided out of impulse to revisit this thread......

Since we don't know the practicality of RALS..... and if GD Model 200 was built and accepted into service...... how possible would it have been for P.112 to adopt the same propulsion/lift scheme as that of GD model 200?

elmayerle mentioned a '"three-poster" with PCB' configuration...... would someone please elaborate on that one?

Actually, the P112 actually looks a bit like a single engined Rafale! Look at the cockpit area on the model, it has the angular look of the Rafale. Imagine a twin engined conventional P112, and you would pretty much have a British Rafale!

Imagine if it had been finalised in the 1980s, instead of the EAP, and you get the Swedes on board too - instead of three 'Euro-canards', you have just one. It would be STOL, thus attractive for both carrier use, and roadway use for Sweden, yet also have twin engines, and high performance. The UK, France and Sweden all commit, with Germany, Italy and Spain all agreeing to buy in exchange for components manufacture. The order totals are:

Sweden    - 200 (as with Gripen)
France      - 400 (300 for the AdlA, 100 for the MN)
UK           - 400 (300 for the RAF, 100 for the RN)
Germany  - 200 (replacing Phantom and Mig-29s)
Italy         - 150 (replacing F-104Ss etc...)
Spain        - 100 (as with Typhoon)

That's a sum total of 1450 aircraft, plus a load of export opportunities - a real Joint Strike Fighter for the '90s!

According to "British Secret Projects", the SAAB Gripen owes a tiny amount of its heritage to BAe P.106B, which led to a STOVL development that is the BAe P.112.

As for a twin-engined P.112/106- that'd be BAe P.110, which lies somewhere at the beginning of Britain's road to the Eurofighter Typhoon!
