I read about a proposal for a F-15U for United Arab Emirates with:
' ... 50 degrees leading edge clipped delta wings that allowed big fuel tankage ... '
How could it look like?
Tailess or tailed delta?

Thanks in advance.

From the illustrations I've seen, it looks like a blend of YF-22 and F-15 wings, at least that's how I intend to model such.

Looks like I was beaten to the punch.

Looks a lot like the F-15s from the Japanese anime Patlabor.  Very nice design.  Wonder if anybody will ever pony up for the F-15 ACTIVE package...

There was also an illustration some time back in Flight International of an advanced version of this with intakes similar to those of the YF/F-22 and a tailplane assembly similar to the YF-23's.

I thought that love would last forever; I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one:
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods:
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

Hi, Evan and Deino,

F-15XX is usually described as 'no frills, low cost F-15'.
Do you think that the Flight review illustration depicts such plane?
IMHO it is closer to a YF-22 or YF-23 than to a F-15, I would say 'very expensive'.

Which features would you include in an eventual F-15XX. I am seriously thinking in that beast?

Thank you in advance.

I always figured the F-15XX was a lower cost upgrade that featured an increased span wing with slats and wingtip Sidewinder rails while the F-15U was a more impressive upgrade aimed at getting closer to YF-22/YF-23 performance requirements and featured a more greatly modified wing, modified inlets, and that rather modified tail.

HTH,
Evan
