Some Of My Older Builds

A couple of recent threads inspired me, so I dug through my photo files and dug these up. First off, my own hovertank interpretation:

Parts off of quite a few kits here. Insterad of being a GEV (as they are called in the 2300  universe, aka air-lifted) mine is based on a kind of antigravity that a friend and I came up with for a fully-fleshed out future universe many moons ago. One of htese days I have to transcribe the 150+ pages of notes we have. And although it's not readily apparent by just seeing the model, it's also scale-o-rama; the model is supposed to be 1/48 scale. At the time I did it there weren't many 1/48 military figures available. Not visible (cut off in the pic) is the muzzle brake from an M-109...

Next up, a couple of Gundams; first off a 1/100 Gundam F91 from the anime of the same name:

and a Heavyarms from Wing Gundam:

Last in the SF group is my little "Corvette Gunship HMCS Chrysanthemum":

Complete kitbash here, with everything from Star Trek and Gundam parts to a 1`/48th scale AA-11 missile for the tail stinger. Wish this one was still around -- it didn't make it back from a model show and I got mad at it -- it's now in teh spares box and some of the bits made it onto other models. I won a first-in-clas with it at a model show in Guelph a couple of years ago.

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

Maverick

love the builds RM, the hovertank is mucho coolo.  I'm guessing a Tamiya S-Tank for a basis?  And your corvette is seriously nice... pity about the fate.

Next up, a couple of cars:

First off, a 1/24 Hasegawa Lancia 037 Rally:

This is a real-world build, that I had mountains of photos to reference from. It's the 1983 Monte-Carlo Rally winning car of Walter Rohrl/Hans Geistdorfer. The black line on the bottom of the rear quarter-panel is simulating a real crack that the fiberglass body got on the second day of the event. Even the tires have "set-markings" on them. This is the sort of stuff I used to do for clients when I was doing this semi-professionally. Actually, this is the last car model I have done -- I was so burned out from doing this as a sorta-job that I haven't done a car since.

Second up is another rally subject (hence "rallymodeller"  ;)  ):

Richard Burns' 2002 Monte-winning STi. Again with all the reference material. This pic was actually taken shortly after my catr knocked it off the shelf and busted the rear wing off. Never did find part of it. THe paint on this one is real honest-to-deity Subaru WRC Blue. At the time I did this kit Subie dealers didn't have touch-up cans of this paint colour in stock so I had to order it special.

And last up my little armoured division:

Left to right: Tamiya M60A2 (no markings), Skif T-72B (19th Guards Tank Regiment, winter tempra), Trumpeter S-103C. I'm especially proud of the T-72 -- I made the winter cover for the KP machine gun out of tissue and white glue with strips of electrical tape for the straps. Also did the wash in "prototypical" style -- way thinned tempra paint  applied with a cut-off #10 brush, then drip marks under the barrel applied later. The S-tank got a second place in class at the '04 WEllCoME show in Guelph -- complete with  brushed-on weathering over Wal-Mart artist's acrylic spray paint (great value at $3 for a big can!)

So that's it for now. Yes, Mav, the basis for the hovertank was an S-103B. Decals are a mix of spares and JBOT Canadian Armour decals.

Other comments?

You did a great job in modifying that Bandai/Star Blazers Cosmo Hound! It looks almost like a Luft '46 plane. Or a Luft '46 version of teh Space Shuttle.
