Being currently bogged down on my Boeing 247 Dead Parrot GB project , I decided to take a few pics of some of my older builds in 1/144. The odd thing about shots of models in such a tiny scale is that the pics are larger than the actual article!

First up is my Flying Tigers P-40 that I bashed from a 1/144 Minicraft Tony. The shark's mouth is hand-painted. In real life, the model is about half the size of this pic.

Next up is a P-26 I bashed from the Minicraft Tojo. The spats (yes SPATS!!!) were scratched and the tail stripes are hand-painted. I fabricated the cowling from a section cut from an old pen.

P.S. I listened to Orson Well's "War of the Worlds" while building this one. Seemed to create the right mood for the build.

Here's a Fairey Battle I bashed from a Minicraft nameless Japanese torpedo bomber. The prop is swiped from a Grumman Avenger.

Last pic is something I posted a long time ago but got a better shot of this evening. I tried to imagine Boeing improving their B-9 to compete with the Martin B-10. The fuse is scratched from an old pen and the rudder is from a B-25. The wings and horiz. stabs are from a P-38 and the cowlings were sections cut from an old pen. The tail stripes are hand painted. I call it the Boeing B-9X.

Do you mean the Nakajima 1/144 Tojo? What a change! Wonderful...

Little darlings they are, and very inventive work too!

Brian they remind me of the WWII aircraft recognition models - amazing modeling in that tiny scale

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I'm please you gents enjoyed these little birds. 1/144 is a fun scale. You can usually complete one in a day or two and get away with a lot that larger models would be unforgiving of.

Oh, believe me Brian, you can get all JMN over these things too if you're not careful. That Transall flying boat I did was 1/220th scale and I still obsessed over tiny details. I'm doing another one of them as a gunship and the urge to put on too much has got me stalled. I mean, what style of cup holder is on the Transall instrument panel anyway?
