What if the FAA had used a few P-26's as squadron hacks or observation planes just post-D-day?

Br. Dk. Slate Grey
Br. Ocean Grey

with D-day stripes.

Fitting for a Peashooter paint-scheme wise?

What if the A5M4 had been stationed in Alaska and been given a proper winter scheme?

Ex. light IJN grey, red tail and nose, skiis, and an Alaska outline in the fuselage roundels.

What if the US Navy used a Val for DACM against a Dauntless?
Oxidized Tri-color blue with stars and bars.

And what could a PZL-11 do?

QuoteAnd what could a PZL-11 do?
...what indeed.

When displayed at the Paris Salon the aircraft was fitted with spatted gear.
Except for the red and white trim the aircraft was unpainted.

The D.501-510 series would also look cool in civil type paint schemes and in role reversal the Gee Bees, Weddell-Williams and other raceplanes would be amusing in period military schemes.

It's funny you should mention that.  I had visions of the Pacific War erupting early, say in 1937 after the Panay "incident", with A5Ms duking it out with F3Fs and land-based P-26s.

Don't forget the RAF and RN as British gunboats were also attacked:

Actually some historians feel that the "Pacific War" (perhaps the ultimate oxymoron) began in 1933...it just took awhile before the West was fully involved.

JCF,

That means a spat could have occurred using early Wildcats wearing a Dk. Blue/White dazzle scheme?

P-43's could have been chased around by Claude, the Golden?

Petes and F3F's had a mix up?

What British sorts could have been involved?

Mmmm spats! I love spats!

How about a Claude going up against a Philippine P-26 or maybe an early-production Chinese Nationalist Hawk?

Did I mention I love spats?

Aren't we doing this thread over ing Alternate History?

Someday I am going to pick up a pre-war bird or two and paint in mid- to late-WW2 camo.

Check on the 1930's Cold War thread.  Lots of good stuff there.
