There is a big man made lake at Brockholes near Preston, it was dug out to extract the sand, then made into a nature reserve.

A tailless Avro Shackleton based on a concept by Convair back in 1943 .
One of the rival bids  for the replacement of the Lockheed PV-1 Ventura and PV-2 Harpoon.
Convair went down the tailless twin-engine patrol route but what if the USNavy had chosen the Avro Shackleton instead of the Neptune.
The tailless Shackleton concept looks better as a 4 engined bomber./ attack aircraft.

With the 75th anniversary of D-Day this year and the largest gathering of  Dakotas at Duxford it's only fitting that I attempt to build one in 1/72 scale. Whether I go down the route of acquiring the  Alley Cat improvement sets or  merely change the engines to a pair of  Rolls-Royce Griffons remains to be seen.
There are many anniversaries of the Cold War happening this year as well, The  Berlin Air  Lift also conjures up real world of whiff world possibilities. I do have two vacform 1/72 Avro York kits one of which is in the process of being turned into the Avro Yorktown using various parts from Shackleton kits whilst the other one could be based on an actual aircraft that took part during the crisis.
I now have a vacform 1/72 Avro Lincoln in the stash. The  Lincolnian appeals to me but with the extended nose and S+M Model nose and tai cones. I do have a pair of Lincoln style resin twin fins and the engines from the D.J Parkins Lincoln set. A refuelling tanker seems the likely option.
A four seater  BAC Lightning based on the  T55 .

I've done some work on a Shackleton that's going to be an extended war electronic warfare aircraft with 100 Group, probably with one of the units that flew B17s.

Still unsure of the scheme - either the standard Dark Earth/Dark Green/Night scheme or the post war MSG/Night scheme.  I'm inclined toward the latter, but I know I'll be doing a post was ELINT bird with 198 Sqn (instead of the Lincoln they had OTL) and that'll be in the same scheme, so the ED/DG/Night would make it stand out a bit more.

The fuselage is nearly ready to close up before I start doing any cutting to the nose and tail.  The wings are done to the filler stage.

The next Shatipuss is going to be a Met Flight aircraft, although I really should get the Revell AEW2 to the primer stage.  Really dislike that kit.  I don't think it's as good as the Airfix one and the two unstarted in the stash are wing donors for my Tudor programme.

I saw something on one of the  YouTube  videos of  Area 51 2018-2019, it looked to me as if the donor aircraft was an F-18. The nose had been stretched to carry a recce pod or SLAR, forward facing conards and the wings looked like they had sections of the  F-4 Phantom added to them.  I couldn't tell if it was a single or two seater. I think that I might have a  Airfix 1/72 F-18A/B Hornet in the stash.
On the same video there was a sketch of a  B-222 not the  Blohm & Voss BV-222 flying boat but a B-2 on steroids.
A Avro Vulcan and Northrop  B-2 Spirit kitbash possibly in 1/144 scale.
Another  Air Car Ferry  using the  vacform  BV-222 kit.

Do one inspired by D'Israeli & Edington's "Scarlet Traces" graphic novel; on it's back, with Bio-Mechanical legs waving in the air, instead of wheels! ;D :o

After having a root through my stash and finding some kits that I thought I had sold years ago, I have decided to build some interceptors, based on British experimental aircraft, I can I suppose include my Arvo Archer, when I finally get the thing finished. The other aircraft I am going to include are Boulton Paul P 120/P111, Fairey Delta II, and an SR-53, all in 1/72nd scale. I might even add a couple of aircraft that are available through Colin at Freightdog, and maybe completely made up aircraft or two we shall see. Some if not most will be RAF, and some will be FAA. I just fancy a change from my cartel/ Honduras stuff.

The transport version of the B-29 with decals representing the windows and doors.  I will use the paint guide from the Airfix Armstrong Whitworth Whitley Mk.V along with the British Overseas  Aircraft  Corporation decals.
