Hi all,
Just to let you know that this years award show will be a little later than planned.
As you know I always try to get this all done and dusted with the results out on the Oscar awards weekend, but I have a number of things happening in my professional and private life at the moment and finding the time to compile all the information, set the polls and produce the show is not high on my list right now.
Don`t get me wrong, the show will happen.
But I`ll be looking to do this all after March so we are looking at a Spring/Summer Awards.
Again apologies.
Regards,
tc

We are all very grateful that you (and the academy) manage to do this at all! Thank you!! It will happen when it happens and we will contain our mounting excitement until the great day.
Will the airship aerobatic team be providing entertainment at the ceremony once again, or are you planning something involving ornithopters? If you can engage the services of a "Spackman International Products" development, the "Wing Walking Half Marathon" would also be interesting.

Only possible if there's enough red carpet to cover the WHOLE wing. The Academy has certain standards to maintain after all.

No problem mate, real world comes first

Yup!
-
Np TC, the Academy set the precedent to not always do it on Oscars night a few years ago.
I am looking forward to being a bit more active with the voting this year so take your time.

There is a real world?
zenrat industries is pleased to announce we have been awarded the catering contract for the ceremony and would like to reassure potential attendees that the bargain price raw prawns we have obtained will be fine in the esky until at least May as long as we remember to keep swapping out the ice packs. Use by dates are just guidelines, right?

Ah. So it's Zenrat Industries who are really behind the return of Vegemite to Australia ? ;D

As they are loudly proclaiming, "Australian Vegemite for Australians on Australia Day!"
It won't last...

Might I suggest each category has a different coloured envelope  ? Either that or get Faye to wear her glasses
-
Faye is a member here, too? :o
-
I work with a 21 year old child. I had to explain to her today who Faye and Warren are.
Do they teach them nothing these days?
-
I've a soft spot for Faye if only because Bonny and Clyde was the first "X" rated film I legally went to the cinema to see on my 16th birthday ;D
I think it's rated PG now but back then we only had U, A,X and H (never really figured why the X & H differentiation was needed ?)

Hi fellow whiffers,
Negotiations with PwC have now been completed and we are confident what the 2017 Awards will be a non FUBAR event.
The Academy is now sifting it`s way through all the data and will over the next few weeks compile and ready the voting process.
Jack Daniels, (this years unofficial sponsor), have supplied the necessary crates of bourbon while the task of compiling everything takes place so what could possibly go wrong......
Watch this space.

Can you confirm or deny rumours relating to contacts between Narses2 and Putin?
A forum member who wishes to remain anonymous and who I only know by his pseudonym of Longwings has sent me copies of documents which although heavily redacted purport to show collusion regarding vote rigging.

I told you not to................................. oops............ :banghead:

We share an interest in Central European History, perfectly innocent
On a serious note can we make sure that all forms of electronic devices are banned back stage after the farce at the Oscars ;)
Seriously ; Thanks mate

Any news about a date and when?

I`m still working on it I`m afraid, lots of copying and pasting going on when I can and my work is taking up a lot of my time at present
Apologies to all but on the bright side, it`s something to look forward to soon.

No problems, real life comes first.

No stress! Your effort is highly appreciated.

I just voted in the Ship category. This says "2 votes each" but I can only make one selection. Maybe the poll needs a setting changed?

Same issue in Sci-Fi category
-
Sorry guys, all part of the fun setting these polls up. Sometimes you miss something. :banghead:
Should be fixed now.
-
The Whiffie polls are now live so feel free to vote away. There is a lot to go through.
I`m off to the hospital with acute RSI.......... :o
-
Thank you for setting them up. Not a job i'd want.

-
I'm shooting myself in the foot here but I can't stay silent ... :-\
My NARDU F4D-1P Spyray is a single engined jet &, therefore, is ineligible to be in the multi-engine jet vote.
(Damn, that hurt! :banghead: )
-
Thanks for the huge effort, tc!
To everyone else: Good luck! You made voting bloody hard!
-
Ya, thank you, tc!
I imagine my brain would need a serious overhaul after that, if i had to do it and, i'm sure i'll need a few more vacation days after i'm done voting... :o ;D
-
I imagine my brain would need a serious overhaul after that....
Mine does already and I've only voted half the list so far! :banghead: :banghead:
-
Ye gods!
I think I have killed my mouse with the voting this year.
Stonking good effort TC!

Very honest of you Old Wombat. The Academy viewed the finished model pictures and genuinely believed it was a single exhaust for a single engine.
I can`t move it now as it`s had two votes placed.
Apologies for the mistake and providing no ones going to throw their toys out their pram, I`m going to leave it where it is and let it stand.
-
Uh, gotta take some time for the voting...! Thanks a lot for setting things up!
-
Tremendous work in setting this up Tony. Thank you very much indeed
Like Dizzy I'm going to take my time over this and leave votting until I get home and can do it in a more relaxed atmosphere. Currently on the family farm, 5 dogs in the house at the moment, one of whom is a mad Great Dane ;)
-
Incredible work...many congrats.
Taken me most of the day on and off getting the votes in. I must have been out of it for awhile as I couldn't remember seeing half the entries :o
Thoroughly enjoyable experience looking back
-
Thanks for your work, TC! A really big job.
Also voting is a job, with so many categories and entries. And I too have discovered many models I had missed. :o
Congratulations to all the entrants.
-
Indeed an excellent selection of 2016's whif harvest! ;D :drink:
-
That was gruelling! I needed more votes. Some spectacular pieces!
-
Wow. Thank you so much for all your hard work on this. Most appreciated!
-
Small correction, the Joffre in ships is mine. ;D
-
...one of whom is a mad Great Dane ;)
Zoinks! Are you holidaying with "those meddling kids"?
..."Now lets see who's underneath the rubber mask...OLD MAN NARSES2!!!"...
-
my votes are made, i must say it was hard this year to make a choice :o
all the entries look great
-
Sorted and apologies.
Hopefully that`s the last PwC moment.....
-

Mate, given the amount of work that has to have gone into this, a couple of minor slip-ups are nothing to apologise for! :o
-
And my votes are made too.
It was very hard this year to make a choice in some categories. Thanks for your big hard work with categories "tc2324"
-
My compliments and thanks to tc2324 for undertaking this mammoth exercise. Might I suggest that you are now certainly entitled to a brisk lie down with a large glass of your chosen relaxant fluid?
-
Sorted and apologies.
Hopefully that`s the last PwC moment.....
No worries, considering what you had to go through to get all of this organized, I actually deliberated just not saying anything.
Thanks again for all of your work!
-
Did my votes - not an easy task. And I have the impression that either more or less votes to give away would change the pressure and difficulty of voting... Tough choice, as usual. Looking forward to the results, and, again, many thanks for setting this huge annual poll up.
-
Some really tough choices out there!
-
Many (most of ?) of the models appear in more than one category so, trying not to vote for a model more than once, I think I voted for most of the entries. <_<

Yeah, same here!
-
The Academy thanks everyone for their input in the voting.
Please do not forget the VTOL poll which is on page 2.
-
That was soooooooooooooooo difficult, my brain hurts :banghead:
Well done to all the nominations and especially well done to tc2324
-
Only 6 days left to cast your votes folks.
-
Heading into the last 24 hours folks......
-
Just went through & double checked that I'd voted in all catgories.
I refused to double check my votes - it was difficult enough the first time around & I can't change them, anyway! :o

Yep, I disabled the change vote option so that it avoids any rigging issues. (hope the Russians arn`t watching...?)
OK all, polls will start to be closed from approx 8pm GMT today so please assume that you can not vote after that time.
-
Ok all, consider the polls closed as the Academy starts noting the results and deleting the threads.
I now have a week to think of a funny speech for the awards show while the bribe money rolls in.............
-
.......... and so that concludes the voting section of this years Whiffies.
Many thanks to you all who voted and see you at the show this time next week.
Toodle Pip.

re bribe money...: how about what-if 100$ bills with Trump's face on it? Would you accept that? ;)

Just to remind you all that the Awards show will start at approx 8.30pm GMT this Sunday.
See you there.

Hope I don't win anything as due to photobucket's attempt at extortion none of the links to my pics will work.

Hi all,
Just to let you know that due to last minute family commitments, the awards show may be delayed by an hour or so this evening. (I have to keep Mrs Academy Awards happy if I know what`s best for me... ;) )
The Awards show should be up and running by 10pm at the latest this evening.
