The Airfix Humbrol stand at Yeovilton model show on Saturday had the first completed production kit on the stand.
The kit looks awesome, this one had the bomb bays open and the airbrakes open as well.
There was also an unmade example and that looked nice, although the cockpit is a bit sparse.
I was told that they will be shipping next week, and the figure of 10,000 is actually incorrect. There is a limited production run but the guy said that only the most important people in Airfix know what the number is.
The most important thing is that the kit looks superb.
Father in law took pictures (I was already out of memory and film) will post when he has them developed.
Official Airfix pictures from Yeovilton (http://airfix.com/cs/news_tsr2_Yeovilton.aspx)
These just went up, it looks good. They are different pictures from the ones seen on IPMS Germany.
Cheers
Tony
Not to sound churlish and ungrateful, but is anyone else getting bored with seeing anti-flash white TSR2's?
Oh, for the explosion of colour when we get our hands on the kit! :D
Wait until you see some of the colour schemes I'm going to do mine in :D :D
QuoteWait until you see some of the colour schemes I'm going to do mine in :D :D
Non of mine are going to be white.

Neither are mine. Hell if I get lucky one might be British that's about it!
But are we thinking PINK chaps :P
Sunset attack scheme?
Sunrise attack scheme....the Japanese version obviously.
Red Bull Eagle...?
Wow....look at all that detail !
I like the intake trunking...cool !
And think of all the CDN ones you guys are gonna build !
Just don't fight over the schemes, boys !
:o This just in! Airfix has announced that despite all interest expressed, the TSR-2 isn't a viable aircraft model to be produced due to high cost over runs. It is anticipated that the replacement, the ERTL F-111 will fulfill all the promise the TSR-2 would not have. :o
Alternatively, F4 Phantoms from ESCI are mooted as a replacement should the F-11 turn out to be too expensive and late as well. ;)
:P Kidding!
Sorry...I couldn't help myself!
Alvis 3.1
Mine will all be camo, no white in sight (apart from in the roundels): demonstrator, 1980s camo, 1990s camo, Desert Shield/Storm, Indonesia, and the most recent.
All RNZAF, of course ;) ^_^ !
Must see more pics of built kit! One look at the sprues is enough for me.
QuoteAlvis, only you could find that funny. How would you feel if it was an all new, all singing all dancing kit of the Arrow?
:P
And after the whinging from certain quarters over my Canadian TSR2, I doubt I'll be doing another.
Russian in NM (got the back story for this one down pat) and an all white XR220 (with pylons) and an all white XR221. Those are the first in the build pile. And in that order.
Oh, THAT kit had been cancelled and replaced with another one of a Voodoo :o
Wooks, I really hope to see a TSR-2 of yours one day with lil F4 kill markings under the canopy...
I actually find there are a few parallels of the real TSR-2 and the kit release..the secrecy, the hand wringing, the missed deadlines...
Clock's ticking, we have been informed by our supplier in Canada here that they are getting all they ordered, but the guy isn't expecting more...lets hope he's wrong.
Oh, and by the way...HobbyCraft Canada ran out of Arrows LONG before Xmas this past year, leaving our shop in the lurch. I hope the whole pile we ordered from every possible source, which never arrived, don't all come at once!
Alvis 3.1
hmmm... for my lot... XR220 (Joe) with pylons & XR221 (Jasper) in white, 237 OCU & No40 Sqdn (initial camou) as well as RAFG. (black unders), NEAF lt stone/dk earth/black), FEAF. (dk green/dk earth/black) schemes (ok i know these dont fit in with the official guidelines for combat aircraft (green/grey only im afraid chaps, but after seeing Lees examples they look soo damn sweet (amongst my fav models of yours, esp with that high demarcation)
btw, have any of you chaps thought of using those lil strong micro magnets embedded within stores and pylons sos to enable alternative weapons fits?
cheers, joe B)

I still haven't decided what my first one will be...probly RAF...maybe MFG....but I know the 2 I'll be building for the GB ;)
Actually Joe, you could take a leaf out of Hasegawa and Tamiyas book and embed poly-caps in the pylons so that weapons could be swapped out at will. Just add appropriate spigots to the weapons themselves.
I will wait untill I get the kits to work out what I would like to build. I may even do one as a straight build to assess how buildable the kit is, just like I did with one of my 1/350 Polar Lights Enterprise Refits....
Cheers

Well I know how I want to do my one, pretty tame and I'm still balking at the price of the Xtradecal sheet so if anyone's not planning on using the 16 squadron markings off their sheet I can give them a good home.

So which one of us will be bidding on it first??
At least the price is right ;) :D
At the rate they're going he'll be out of stock in about 12 hours...
So how many of you...er...profited from the Airfix site sale?
What will become of the poly-bagged stash Airfix have stashed away?
Which of the many sources of supply will supply first?
It's good to see so many new converts to the cause.
And Wooksta...I know where you live and if you don't watch it, I'll come and stamp on all your toys! :D
(Love that prog)
Have you paid him yet?
Hannants are charging cards this weekend and should have them on Monday
PS
Going to try South Shields for curry tomorrow
:tornado:
Ordered two from Airfix today! Now to dream up a colour scheme. RAF grey/green mid-70's I think.
I;ve asked my guy in Wellington to hold at least one, but I should be able to afford two. NZ$54 each he said.
YES, just checked my bank account and a payment was made to somebody called Hannants in Lowestoft ! Well I've only ever ordered two things from them the other being the RNLI Lifeboat and thats been lost in the ether.

Grrr...
Hannants' site doesn't allow you to view the status of pending orders. I'll just have to wait for the package to show up. <_<
I just scored a lot of three on E-Devil.

You're a legend Aircav! :P
Holy cripes, Stevie....it's true, it's all true ! There really is an Airfix TSR.2 !
So when does the e-bay shop open for business Steve :P
Hannants are saying all their pre-orders will be despatched by this afternoon (probably) so lucky I've a week off next week to await the postie - foresight or what ?
Some of the Airfix site posters are saying they have theirs - mine is coming from there so we shall see......
Or I may nip to LHS just in case.....
Got a phone call from my LHS this morning. I've got a TSR2 to pick up on Monday. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!
Mrs Nev has said I can buy any left at the LHS and sell them to you lot for £100 each. I told her that wouldn't be something to do to your mates.
The nice chaps at Mr Models rang me today to confirm they had their consignment in, and were putting mine (and Scooterman's) aside for me to collect later. I believe they still have quite a few unsold. Suggest anyone still wanting TSRs drops them a line sharpish.
mrmodels@amserve.com
Does Mrs Nev really think Mr Nev has got mates??? Most of us here are social outcasts, with only imaginary friends. Sell 'em to the highest bidder... or lay them down like a fine wine , a long term investment to be dusted off for Sotheby's in 20 years time.
