Title: Whiffer version of a Ta 152C
Post by: matrixone on February 12, 2006, 03:45:22 PM
Here are some pics of one of the most difficult modern kits I have EVER built, the 1/72 scale DML Ta 152C.
This was one of those kits where not much of anything fit well and took a very long time to build.
This a/c actually flew in prototype form and production had just started when the factories that were building them were captured by Allied forces. Some say a couple were actually used in the last weeks of the war, it is hoped Jerry Crandalls new book will have more information on this subject.

My model is marked as a what-if JG 301 a/c since the production planes would have been assigned to that unit.

Again, thanks very much Brian!

If you only knew how much trouble this little DML kit was to make! I feel if I can build this thing then I could build almost anything. Painting this model was fun to do and almost made up for the hassle of the build.

Thanks Allan!

Yep, that is one big propeller. Those big paddle blades were needed to harness the power from its high output engine. Also check out the huge air intake on the left side of the engine cowling.

Thanks for the kind words Zac!

This model was no fun at all to build, it sure would be nice if Tamiya or Hasegawa made some 1/48 scale Fw 190D-13s or some Ta 152C/H kits, if they did I am very sure we would be seeing a lot of them.

Thanks cthulhu77!

I just LOVE these late war Focke-Wulfs, the Planet Models 1/72 scale Fw 190D-14 looks very good except for one thing...the price, its over $40.00. Thats a lot of green for a small model.

Wooksta,

If that Planet Models Fw 190D-14 was injection molded and of Tamiya like quality I would already have bought one, but that much money for a resin kit is something I REALLY need to think about before purchasing.

I've used all the superlatives before - it's just amazing the level of consistency you achieve

Thanks very much for the comments!

It was a real battle building this one, I came very close to smashing this thing with a hammer a few times but I know this is likely the only injection molded kit of this a/c that will be available and I really wanted a Ta 152C in my collection.
