Title: Little Weekend Project
Post by: Keith Diamond on October 08, 2005, 01:41:15 PM
Stuck in Clemson this weekend, so I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up some 1/144 kits to help ease the stress of school.

I haven't built a 1/144 aircraft kit in years, but so far these are just fun little things to take a break from school stuff.

These are What If aircraft of course, since I'm trying to optimize the fun factor of them.

The F-15 will be a CF-155A and one of the F-4E will be in Phil AF "Blue Diamond" markings.

The other F-4E will have an aggressor splinter scheme applied.

You could always apply the "TSR2  Killer" markings to them also...:)

What's the TSR 2 killer scheme?  I'm not familiar with it.

Here's another pic of the aircraft and other parts painted

Last pic for the night

Not the best models in the world, but I have the bare minimal supplies with me.  About 5 bottles of paint, cement, white glue, scotch tape and a knife set is all I have.

For someone with minimal supplies Keith, you're doing a bloody good job on those kits.

Looking good Keith, even with a minimum of supplies you're doing a good job.

Thanks Lancer and Patrick.  I'm not used to work with so little supplies and working in a dorm room.  I just needed a little break in between studying to maintain my sanity.

Here's an update pic of the Phil AF F-4E and the CAF CF-155A

My favorite method of making a What If aircraft is slapping some Philippine, Canadian or Israelis markings on it ;)

The other F-4E didn't turn out well and the camo was seriously botched using scotch tape, so I simulated Triple A fire by putting a hammer to it.

all that remains of the CF-155 are the custom decals

the bottom

both Phantom kits came with missiles for the inboard station, so I cut off some fins to represent Sparrows in the missile wells

Top Falls Down

I wanted a F-15 style camo applied to it

The Phantom is totally complete

It's markings represent the 6th TFS at Basa AB I think?  I'm sure about the 6th TFS, not sure about Basa though.  It's marked up as a Blue Diamonds Demo Team jet #4

Who's Phil and why does he have his own Air force?

Neat little kits and bloody great job with no supplies. I wanna see the AAA victim though.

And the TSR2 killer scheme is any paint wrapped around any Phantom  :P

I should have mentioned, my middle name is Philip ;)

As for the ill fated Phantom, sorry no pics, and it's already down the trash shoot.  Although while doing laundry, I found an intact ejection seat, so maybe the pilot or wso got out safely.

And thanks for the info on the TSR 2 killer scheme. :)

Thanks El Capitain.  I haven't made the decals yet on my computer, but it shouldn't take long.  I'm thinking about using the Cougar Sqaudron markings since I have a Testors 1/48 CF-188B in those markings, so that would probably be easiest.  I'll probably get back to it sometime after my fall break that starts Friday.
