Well I went out to do a bit of shopping today. Got cheap MP3 players for the kids, some goodies for the lovely wife, and for myself...I found a nice display of Tamiya models and found myself wishing I had more to spend and more room to pack stuff!!!
They had 1/48 F-15s for about $30, which I THINK is a good price (I never buy Tamiya at home). I picked up a cheap Tamiya 1/100 Lightning F.6 at home a while back and thought it was a decent kit for the price (about $8), so I was torn when I found a bunch more in that scale for Macau$36 or Macau$63, depending on the kit. I ended up picking out a 1/72 Hawk and a 1/100 Buccaneer for a total of Macau$112, or about $15US. Not a bad deal I thought. The Bucc may be whiffed into a USN or USAF Vietnam version if I can come up with some appropriate decals and weapons (I may have to go back later in the week to pick up a USN F-4 or a Thud).
The Hawk is the Italeri kit. There's quite a few Italeri mouldings in Tamiya boxings for the far east market. The Jaguar and Eurofighter are at least two of them.
I realized that after I opened it and thought it looked familiar!! The fine print on the box says "kit and decals made in Italy". Not too disappointed though, I love Italeri Hawks, and at $6 was still a deal!
Glad to see you found some model fun over there!
regards,
Um, yes, quite, and did you happen to see any, er, Kiddyland 1:48 AT-3 (Tzu-Chiang) kits in your travels????
