I started this in the gen. forum, and now it's time to bring it out of the shadows. ^_^ . It's 1:144 and will be a interesting addition to my collection of little birds. :)

Lol, that's "different". Are you going with the gigantic intakes? Oh, and an idea: Saw off the lower part of the fin/stab "booms" and install the surplus exhausts there?
Oh, you freakin' genius! :o
Even at 1:144 scale?!?!
Some people! :P
Keep the pics coming!
So pleasant...
On the picture with both your Phantom and the 'genuine' one, guess which one I prefer? ;)
Salt 6,
Talk about parallel universes! Mine is going to have three engines as well. So far the only real difference between yours and mine is I've lengthened mine to even out the width. You don't have your vertical stabs up yet, but I'm curious to what you're going to do. B)
Eddie
A small step forward. I've started filling in the spaces with sheet styrene and am thinking of adding an ECM package to break up the flat area on the spine. :)
JHM, you are just about done with the F-4 you were racing me with , right? ;)

F-4 race?!
Oh yeah, I'm WAY ahead of you, pal. ;)
Uh, just don't have the pics, yet.
My, er, digicam batteries went dead. :o
I mean, I DROPPED my camera...yeah, that's what happened. :(
I'll have to draw you a sketch and----oops, now my pencil broke.
Yeah, pencil's just no good, either.
Nyuk nyuk nyuk!
Don't let Wooksta see ya making Phantoms look so cool.
Jest kidding Lee. Hey, just a question. Why three engines. Not a criticizm, just a question. Is there a reason beyond the cool factor? Third engine a scramjet or a rocket for extreme high altitude recon or sumpting? Or are you guys just trying to add a third engine to see if Enstine was right and you want to make your watches run backward?
Lotsa work there guys and they look neat.

I think it was the clock thing. Now that you got me thinking about it, the 3rd engine could be supplied by a LOX tank in the fuselage for high alttiude NASA research. I could paint it up in NASA colors and give it a space shuttle black and white look. EH... could be. :P
Eddie
Wont it need a bigger wing and control surfaces?
QuoteWont it need a bigger wing and control surfaces?
Not if I add reaction jets to the nose and tail. ;) I'll probably go with....hhmmm....
I don't even know at this point. I've been futher distracted he purchase of a 1:144 F-117 and a 1:72 Tigershark. Too many projects to work on. Plus, watching football doesn't help. :P
Eddie

YESSSSSSS!!!!!As the guy who can't stand organized sports, I will now have a chance to move into the lead, productivity-wise.
Aw, who am I kidding?
Gotta go now, Ms. Hitler's tapping her foot by the door. Grocery shopping is so much more fun than models or sports!
Since MY football team had a bye week( and a hurricane!) I've had a chance to move forward a bit on this one. Added the bottom and started puttying and sanding. Almost ready for paint. B) What scheme? This one has yet to sit down and tell me what it wants to wear. ;)

Thanks. I really don't know what I'll name it. Maybe the F-4 SR ( Super Rhino ^_^ )
I call the Houston Texans my team. Yea, I know that they're 0-2, but I went a lot of years with out a team after that Richard Head Bud Adams took the Oilers away. Go Texans! B)

After the proper motivation of going to an airshow, I got bit by the tiger stripe bug. This is my first attempt and I think it's gonna work out. ^_^I actually took the time to look at some tigers to get a reference. :o If you knew how little research I do for a model, you'd understand what I mean. ;) Here is the inspiration and and the product. :)

Chris

WOW!!!! That little beauty looks awsome Eddie.
Tiger Stripes = Good Choice :)
Jeff G.
Thanks to everyone for the kind words on this little project. I got some more work done today, even while watching the Astros take a 3 to 1 lead over the Cards. One more to go. :D But I digress....Almost finished. Here's a couple of shots.

wow, I never thought I would see an ugly Phantom, but you managed it Eddie!
Wait a second... <_<
You painted those tiger stripes in 1:144 scale?
No waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
>>really????<<
Yikes, I'm impressed!
does she sweat much for a fat lass?
mmmmmm lumpy
I love it! wait...I hate it! Damn you've gone and got me all confused now!
Nice job :D
Quotewow, I never thought I would see an ugly Phantom, but you managed it Eddie!
Thanks! I tried ;) This airplane is like an ugly baby. Only the parent can love it. :P  Just wait though. I've still got the wing section from the 2nd F-4 and a brand new F-117. :ar: My next idea involves ugling up a couple A-10s. B) Thanks to all of you who love it and hate it. ;) :)
Eddie
P.S. I don't if anyone noticed, since these pix are not high res, but I doubled up on the main gear wheels to handle the extra weight and increase the oddness of it.
I gota see the A-10, hurry build it and we will come............here and view it lol.
Well ,you called my bluff, so I had to sit down and actually come up with something. This is what the little voice in my head came up with. Now I've got to find two suitable victims...er...subjects. :P I might call it the Super Hog or the A-10X

Another one finished. I guess I'll call it either the F-4X or F-4DD ;) Super Phantom aka Phat Phantom :P Working with 1:144 is kinda fun. Which leads to my next project.... :)

Eddie, it looks great finished...the first word that comes to mind when I see this bird is THRUST! It just looks like it could just keep going all the way to the moon if you punched it!
It's also quite burly lookin' like it could take quite a pounding before it opens it's own can of Whup donkey! :)
Jeff G.
Yowzers ! That's just awesome, Eddie !
Great job for such a wee scale. Takes up alot less space as well, eh ? So you can build twice as much !
But, I like you big stuff better. Lots of detail.........
Thanks !
Hot DAMN, man------the screen is positively sizzling now!
Can't believe you pulled this off in 1:144
We're not worthy.....!
Holey snapping death from above! That looks awesome. I can't wait for Lee's comments.
QuoteHoley snapping death from above! That looks awesome. I can't wait for Lee's comments.
Uh oh! Is he a F-4 purist? Wait a minute, how can he be if he comes here, right? ;)
Eddie
He's actually anti-F-4 to the end.
QuoteHe's actually anti-F-4 to the end.
How can anyone be anti-F-4? That's like Bigfoot. I didn't think people like that existed. I guess he wouldn't want to see the four I have now, huh? Just kidding. To each his own.
Eddie
I've recently finished three F-4 Phantom pilot (Viet Nam) autobiographies and two things each of the authors agreed was the amount of punishment their airplane could endure and that they too considered the Phantom one uuuuuugly plane.
I know an airplane's aesthetic appeal means nothing to those who fly them in combat: capability and survivability are everything.
But, Eddie, your modified version is simply fantastic, IMHO!!!
Eddie, your, hum, airplane model, is, hum, special, eh!
Can't wait for the Über-Bolt!

Ollie, you can say it, this is the Elephant Man of the Phantom world. For me, it's like the freak show at the carnival. You can't stop staring, even if it's not polite.
That's why I did the tiger stripes, to really mix it up. A regular grey paint job would have made it ugly AND boring. ^_^ It's a 2 at 10 and a 10 at 2.
Eddie
That looks terrific in that finnish Eddie
Chris
Looks way cooler than a real phantom, IMO.
Nice work it kicks a$$!
Thank you to everyone for the compliments. This was a fun build and Phatso has a prominate place on my shelf with my other hybrids. Now I'm thinking of doing one in a larger scale, just so I could add the detail it deserves. :)
