Now this is my type of WIF - sad I know, but that's the truth.

Now, imagine this :

- pointy nose
- semi-bubble cockpit
- two T-56 turboprops
- swept wing tips...

I remember seeing the drawings on Luft' 46, and thinking it was dumb.  However, seeing it in the air that way casts it in a whole new light.

FW-42 (http://www.luft46.com/fw/fw42.html)

The article says the design was offered to both the Russians and the Japanese, so there's a couple possibilities.  I'm not sure how far I'd try to go with modernization, but those gunner stations have to be enclosed.

Thank you  - Japanese to go along side the big Junkers bomber they had - that's sorted then.

That's what's known as "fugly".

Looks like it was made out of an Erector set, or maybe Legos!  :P

Only problem is it's a Unicrap kit - I've bought a few over the years - the quality is slowly getting better but I can tell you now you'll need a good Valium and a lie down before you finish it.

I have his earleir Junkers SFP - so far I have added brass tubing to the exhausts to get them circular ( not oval ) and done lots of filling and sanding but it has sat in the cupboard for at least 12 months since the last effort.

Worst problem is that when he does a kit you can almost guarantee that no one like Planet or even AV will do one and so you are left with only one sorry choice.

I have to be in the mood to tackle Unicraft, as the resin can be a pain to work with, but you can turn out great models and as you say, where else are you likely to see most of them.

As examples of what can be done Martin H has a good Russian flying wing job that he displays quite regularly on the SIG stand, and I saw a AS31 "Flying Egg" with open cockpit side doors at one recent show - how the guy did it I've no idea, but showed what could be done with a bit of patience.

ok what Unicraft kits have i done

First was the MB tank buster..nice kit needed a bit of filler and a lot of ballast in the nose
2nd was the Mustang FTB conversion, very nice kit
3rd was the AS 31...chickened out on the cockpit and used the soild plug and painted in the windows
4th was the ME-109TL  angain nice enought but need a lot of filler
5th the X 45 UCAV for my cadet squadron....filler city on that one
6th the Do 435 conversion for a Do 335 that was a good one
7th was the KhAI-3 flying wing nice but even more filler
8th the Predator UAV...not bad at all, apart from the U/C being very fragile
and finaly the FW TL 1   not bad but the fuss needs a lot of work.

and in stock i have
JU 187 super stuka
Trent powered meteor conversion
Schnell Jager conversion for an ME 262.
BMW jager
Boeing Bird of prey
that bloody great Horton flying wing transport
another MB tank buster
and another Mustang FTB

Glutton for punishment or what?
