That Nichimo P-51 isn't even good enough to assemble as a paint mule, so I'm starting over with the Matchbox DH Mosquito Mk.IX/NF.30. Since the Mustang was going to be Finnish, I'll probably continue in that direction.
The Rat's revolving doors of model macking group builds 😆
Don't make any difference tho ...still gonna be good 👍
Finnish Mosquito brings to mind the proposed VL Vihuri light bomber: a reverse engineered Mosquito, using DB 605 engines.
Would constant exposure to lots of snow and ice give you problems with the Mosquito's wooden construction. It had issues with the glue etc out east.

Not sure. Spartan Air Services used them in Canada for aerial survey work for many years, and I believe it was in all seasons.

Chris the cold climate should actually help with air like the Mosquito...it's dry and..well cold ;D
The cold would keep the glue hard where as the heat will soften it and with alot of cold areas ..moisture isn't a problem either ...the only real worry would be large amounts of ice ..but the ground crews would be very aware of that and would definitely keep their eyes open for it .
It's like Scott's Hut in Antarctica..been there since 1911 and it's still pretty much exactly the same as when it was built ..so is everything inside it ..there's even food you can still eat apparently.
Hot,wet, humid climates play havoc with wood and glue..cold climates are pretty much the complete opposite ;D
That's really cool 😎 👍

Wooden structures should be fine ... as long as you can use good adhesives.
"When Germany attempted to emulate (dH Mosquito) with the Ta 154 Moskito, it used Tego film. Flight testing and development of the first Tego film-bonded prototypes from summer 1943 to 1944 was highly successful, but RAF bombing of Wuppertal in February 1943 (incidentally one of the first Oboe-equipped Pathfinder squadron bombing raids) had already destroyed the only Th. Goldschmidt AG factory producing Tego film."

And there speaks a man from the "Frozen North" ;D Thankyou
Well, this one is indefinitely stalled until I can get a better printer. I could probably source hakaristis from a binch of models, but I've already done the painting and masking with allowance for roundels of a specific diameter, no way I'm going to strip it off and restart. :banghead:
Meh, nuts to it. It's going to get done with the lousy decals, from 3 feet away you can't tell how bad they are.

Better some than none huh Ratty ?
