Title: a little father & son project
Post by: Spey_Phantom on October 22, 2024, 09:11:28 PM
for the past few weeks, me and my little boy have been working together on building a kit.
for ease, i let hime choose an easy snapkit from the stash and he chose a Zvezda 1/100 Rochelle (from Disney's Planes).

i told him he could have it painted any color he liked, he chose pink & blue (later he wanted to drop the blue, im not judging).
we chose some decals from the sparesbox and this is the end result, i know it looks a bit girly, but im not judging him, if he like it its okay with me, we had a fun time building it.

the blue above the eyed i couldnt work away, i was planning on doing the upper part of the fuselage in blue.
building this project gave me an idea, i wonder how good that disney Corsair would look in aeronavale or dutch navy colors?

I think it's lovely, and not least in pink! (I have pink shirts, which go very well with grey suits. :))

.  A tidy piece of work, and    a good way to introduce your young gentleman to whiffery.

Sartorially,  I'll admit to a pink roll neck that Madame Rheged  bought me that goes remarkably well with a dark grey blazer .

Until the late nineteenth century, small boys were dressed in pink and girls in blue.   There is a historical reason for this, and I can bore people into a catatonic state with the explanation if anyone is daft enough to ask.

Carry on, please, good Sir! :)

(I am actually genuinely interested)

Pink shirts beecame "acceptable" again for working class blokes back in the late 60's here in the UK, especially among my Suedehead brethren, got my first Ben Sherman one back then and there's been one in the wardrobe ever since

Brutally abbreviated:  in many catholic countries, Blue was associated with Mary the mother of Christ and so was deemed  the more appropriate colour for girls.  Pink was a more prominent, "showy" colour  and therefore deemed more masculine.     Academic papers have been written,  psychologists and costume historians have argued virulently about the  pink/blue gender reversal.  It's a very fraught area of contemporary gender politics into which I prefer NOT to enter.

Sod the contemporary whatever! I wasn't aware, and have learnt something I didn't know. Such days are good days!

Agreed!

And nothing wrong with the blue 'eyeshadow', it adds a point of difference.

I have a pink Ragtop Cadillac diecast, which will stay in that scheme.
