Jaguar 100 Flying Jet

Never done a group build before  :o , thought I'd jump in a t the deep end  :o  ;D . Going to try and combine a 1/32nd Jag with a 1/72 Tomcat.
This would have also worked for the "it'll never work" or the ugliest build category  ;D (The Jag engine will be swapped out for a jet....sort of a jet powered Chitty Chitty Bang Bang  ;D )

Is this going to be a modernized version of the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chitty_Chitty_Bang_Bang_%28car%29) car?

Going to try a swing wing jet-powered car using the Jag which is vaguely like the Ian Fleming book/movie car, but will not be as pretty, probably  ;D
Interesting link, many thanks

It did strike me that a 1/32 in-line aircraft engine would not be hard to find and could be combined with the Jag to produce a 1940's equivalent of the Chitty Bang Bangs.

Yeah mate..ive seen nicely modded Rolls-Royces ..it's seems Rolls-Royce owners are alot more open minded than Ferrari owners .
That surprises me cause technically speaking Ferraris are piles of crap.

But while Rolls Royce owners maybe more tolerant, the company themselves definitely AREN'T, or weren't anyway, and frequently took to the courts to stop people 'messing about' with their products.

How knows how the current owners of the brand name think on that front.

Strangely enough something similar turned up in Blade Runner 2049

Oh there's no doubt about that .. they're beautiful piles of crap ...it's when you dig into em that you really get to see just how bad they are..on cars this expensive ive seen some atrocious welding ..brittle parts which can't handle the high speeds their ment to ..it's quite a long list.

Ahhh the wonderful guys who bring us Lamborghini cars  ;D
Lamborghini's main goal in life is to keep annoying Ferrari and to bring out much better cars..now that might not really be the case cause some of Lambos cars have been terrible but they have a much less arrogant mind set than Ferrari.
You gotta respect any super car manufacturer which has no issues selling a car to a person who's never owned a Lamborghini before unlike freaking Ferrari.

Thoughts have crossed my mind on occasions about modding a Miura and it's a difficult one ..wiffing one would also apply here.
The shape ..engine lo cal and height  all work against it.
I stood beside a real one at a car show when we had some down time while in the UK and man it's a low car and I'm 6'2 so it's even lower  ;D
A front engine conversion would end up looking stupid as any decent sized engine wouldn't even fit ..in this case it's best to leave it as it ..gorgeous.

In the online game Asphalt 9 they have a concept of the modern model. My problem is that the latest version of the game won't download on my tablet but I get to drive the original on
 Real Racing 3.

You can't improve on perfection.

Being that close to the deck, with my knees and back I doubt i'd ever be able to get in, or out, of one in RL.  But they are so pleasing to look at.

Might have to make new propellers for it..the 5 bladed ones from the Spitfire are much smaller than you'd think 🤔.

I'd cut out the slots for the wheels, loose the nose cone and rework the air intakes. Maybe make the wings shorter or stubbier.

Nope ..no Dremel ..by hand ..use car wax ..like Turtle or similar..alot of rubbing with clean very soft rags..you'll be amazed at the end result..a Dremel can spin to fast and eat the paint or heat up the plastic even with its polishing pads..ask me how I know  :banghead:

ok thanks for the heads up ....I'll back away from a dremel, I was thinking of the cleaning up the filler nothing else, maybe precision files?

Strangely the only real way is good old sand paper..wet n dry is the only way to go or sanding pads..well worth hunting some of those down but for simplicity sake I just use sand paper..Aussie made wet n day and multiple grades..everything from 80 to 2000 grit ..it's cheap..lasts and when sanding with water..cuts beautifully without alot of effort.
Hell I use it to polish real cars head lights
Files just get clogged up and very quickly .
Files work on epoxy putty but only when it's 100 percent dry which is hard work with sand paper ..a dremel would work here to as the putty will be super hard and a dremel cutting bit will crave the putty and the sanding wheels and disc's will work to but on stuff like Tamiya putty sand paper is ya best bet.
I've got dozens of sheets of sand paper ..I work on real vehicles too so its needed for that aswell 🤘👍

When it comes to sanding, good old fashioned toothpaste works marvellously in getting nice clear finishes on clear parts etc.

Just the car might fit well on the hovercraft, without the winged part. But I doubt that is an option at this point.

As a Jaaag owner, I don't know how to react to this....... :-\

I'll just say....interesting, lol

Can I just point out one thing though......it's not a "Jaguar SS100", it's an "SS100 Jaguar"   SS stands for Swallow Sidecars, the manufacturer, and Jaguar is the model name.  SS changed their name to Jaguar cars in 1945 because of the connotations that "SS" had.

History lesson over, lol

Thanks for your interest, I did drop the SS for obvious reasons and as it's not a pure 100 Jag, and as you know stands for 100 mph (my jet version probably should be a 1000 Jag) a distinction from the original is probably a good thing  ;D

I used to do calligraphy when I was a youngling..my dad got me into it because he did it and he was damn good.
I had like 5 pens.. dozen plus nibs ..even had a book showing hoe to do it..mate it's not as hard as ya think .
That's got me thinking again now..might look at getting a cheap set and having a play again  ;D
