Ok, so I don't really like the name, but I LOVE the idea of the F-36 KingSnake. A "non-LO" 4+ generation platform... SEXY!!!
Here's my interpretation of this potential mount, for the USAF, in 1/48, based on the F-16XL...
My model is based on some renderings I found online and is a conglomeration of the Skunk Models F-16XL and the Trumpeter J-10B. She will be finished in HAVE GLASS V dark gray, with AMRAAM's and AIM-9X's, likely with a couple of JDAM's for good measure...
Some other changes I've made: I added some moving SU-57 style "canards" up front and an F135 P&W motor, along with an IRST and some "lumps & bumps" to make her look interesting...
Let me know what you all think!

Totally agree on both counts
Ah! Been there, done that! ;D

I'm obviously just joking but seriously, and this has nothing to do with your build, the F-36 Kingsnake's designers didn't come up with any revolutionary ideas. Lots of people had thought of something at least similar long before they came up with that.
The ventral strakes seem unnecessary with the twin tails or even with a single tail for that matter. Even the real XL didn't need them. Also, the real DSI intake tested on the Viper looked much better to my eyes and that canopy... :o And i don't think this would be a naval design.
Regarding your build, that's looking good indeed, i like the Su-57 influence on those "canards".
This is looking very cool.
Here, also:

I figured that if I arranged the stabilizers a la F-18 (aft of the wing), they'd generate a bit of lift at banking angles, whereas putting them on the wing would result in the wing "blanking" the stabilizer, resulting in buffet and loss of directional authority. 'Course, putting the canards where I did was probably not helpful, aerodynamically speaking. I probably should have extended the fuselage or truncated the forward wing-area ... and I wasn't willing to mess with either the Center of Gravity or the Center of Lift. :)
I do like your build - seems a more likely development than mine. :)
Getting some work done on the ordinance while I wait for my bottle of "HAVE GLASS" from Vallejo...

FWIW, the Su-57 "canards" are LEVCONs (Leading Edge Vortex Controllers)
This looks excellent! The Have Glass shine is great. The LEVCONs are a really neat idea.
Did you custom make the vertical tails or modify them from other sets?
The vertical tails are actually horizontal stabilizers from a 1/72 RA-5C Vigilante. They are an almost exact shape match, from the pics.
Yeah, it's a nice fit, the Vigilante is a big bird. Can't wait to see the finished model
AAAAAND She's DONE!!!

Fantastic build!
Beautiful work! Just goes to prove gray jets don't have to be boring.
Very good!
Maybe not a "true" 5th Gen fighter, but certainly a 4.75th Gen!
Oh yeah, that's AWESOME!
Both the building and the paint job are top class.
Good job with great paint.
Very nice paint finish.
Could also well be a mecha fighter from the Yukikaze universe...?
Thanks: you made me dream of a F-36Z zwilling/Twin-Kingsnake (aka F-72?): <_<

Damn cool!
+1 to what Dizzy said re the Yukikaze vibes.
What did you use to achieve the Have Glass finish?
Nice looking build.
Definitely a Whiffie contender.
That looks gorgeous - well done!
Awesome! Just Awesome
Love the Su-57 flight control surfaces
Steven
By the way folks, the origin of the Kingsnake is Hushkit:
https://hushkit.net/?s=kingsnake
It's been fascinating watching what you have done with the Kingsnake, although I confess, the Zwilling was a step too far for me! I have been genuinely surprised at the interest the article and my artwork has created and hats off for the beautiful build.
Beautiful design indeed!
Thanks, but I can only claim to have created the artwork. The actual concept belongs to a couple of very talented aerospace designers who put a great deal of thought inot the configuration. Being a part of that process was quite an eye opener on how to balance the inevitable compromises of mission, capability and achievabiity.
Beautiful !!
Thank you.
That is so cool
 the Su-75 canard thingies, the paint scheme and the loadout
seriously cool looking bird
Certainly fun to artwork!
Whiffing perfection ! Great job on this one. Cheers !

I'm with you both there. Beautiful modelling, both the conversion and the paint job.
Fantastic work ! I remember such concepts in the late 80's - early 90's.
