A few months back, the USAF was thinking instead of upgrading the first production Lightning airframes to current Block standard, they would reform the 65th Aggressors using these older aircraft as fifth generation representatives. The idea is on hold for the moment, but as soon as I heard this proposal, I had to do it.
Italeri F-35A OOB, decals from the bin, colours by Vallejo in a vague SU-57/J-20 scheme.

And kudos to Italeri for being so restrained with the stealth panels! ;)

When Italeri revealed their F-35A kit I was really disappointed with it because of the massively raised panel lines so I wrote to them and complained about it. I included a bunch of photos of a real one (actually a F-35B) which I had taken at the Yuma Airshow a few years ago. I said to them if they toned down those lines they would have a real winner. The reply I got was, 'the lines are done like that so people can paint then easier' ---- go figure ---
If they're meant to be that obvious they could make them a realistic height and provide them as decals.
No issue with the panel lines changes that it's a great build though!
