Heres my Cleveland Tractor Company Medium M2 Tractor
The figures and the tractor both came from the Monogram 1/48 B-24D
This was my entry in the ARC Ground Equipment group build
I must thank Radish for tws his flesh painting technique that I used. Simple yet effective. Thanks mate! :ar:
The base is a spare shelf from an IKEA CD case, masked round the edges, painted with brown enamel then sprinkled with 2 different shades of model railway grass. Again simple but effective :)
This is the first "armour" I've built in nearly 20 years. Was great fun, especially dirtying the thing up, brought back some fond memories
Think he wants a word with you Nev :D :D :D
Cool trac tor, have e got a com bine harvister too ? :P :P :P :P
:D very nice stuff Nev, now how about putting a Bofors on the back of it? ;)
So come on Nev, what's the guy pointing at ? Is it the big giant bird that just put them down ? (No track marks on grass - ideal tractor for mowing a cricket square :P )
Seriously though good modeling in 1/48 Nev.
My technique for figure painting (mainly 25mm wargames figures) was/is to undercoat in black, that way you get the built in shadows. Bit like pre-shading panel lines I suppose (never done it myself) but been around as a technique for a whole lot longer
Chris
Holy poo-poo (with an english accent), nev...get that thing off the 5th green before the marshall shows up !
:P
Looking good, btw.....and what are the boys looking at ?
;)
Cool, and inspering.
Ya know, I think I make have to go and get a chunk of armour. I got sent a ship thanks to JoeP and I kinda think I may just build her. Now this makes me wanna buy some of that runway equipment and try a diorama.
Thanks for sharing
Nice stuff Neil, Good to see an unusual subject every so often.
Sorry I missed that group build though. I can make 1/24th wheel chocks! <_<
Looking good Nev, but like others, I'm currious:
WHAT'S THE GUY PONTING AT ?????????
sorry for shouting B)
cheers
Patrick
They're pointing at a limping, badly damaged B-24. She's well late, so late in fact that most everyone on the base has given her up as lost, and they were about to post her as "missing". But here she comes, bits missing, wounded guys on board, barely getting over the perimeter fence before touching down on the East Anglian soil safe and sound B)
Chris - I've know the guys who paint warhammer figures and stuff often use a black undercoat, I may try it "next time".
Quotetouching down on the East Anglian soil safe and sound
I love a happy end
cheers
patrick
Personally I'd rather believe he's on the WIF farm pointing up and saying
"look at Ivan that fuzzy bunny, how come he always gets to plough the fields with the Mig and we're back on grass mowing duty?"
Sweet I think little diorama'a are so cool.
That would be a RAF B-24 bomber would it :D
How about
"Yep, Dec 8th is my anniversary and me and the missus got some wing ding plans for dinner in Honnalulu tomorrow night."
"Hey Phil, where is that big flight of Texans going? And how come they is painted white with them big red circles? And look at them three comming in all real low trying to scare us away from Nelley. Them fellas will want Nelly to haul those B-17's about when the land."
"Ahhh, Earl. How come they got them little flashing lights on the wings and nose?"
Nice work, Nev.
You could do my dioramas anytime.
I mean, really, come on over and build/paint some for me already, willya?!
^_^

IMWFO C'mon now, play nice, you wouldn't like it if 'muricans were making jokes about Dieppe...
JHM You say the nicest things. They're not true, cos you rock at all things model related but they're still nice. And I fancy Mrs Nev would put the kybosh on any plans to go to Edmonton for a modelling holiday!
Sorry Nev, never ment to disrespect anyone there. It was ment as a joke. I was just thinking about how how some times people are so transfixed by something they don't move, even when they are in danger. I actually started thinking about writing it as a Stuka comming in at them, but the guys were in US uniforms. Had they been in blue, it would have been Stukas.
BTW, there are reports that a lot of service men didn't believe what they saw at Pearl, thinking they were looking at flights of Texans. Even after the bombs were dropping there were officers trying to sort out what was going on. To so many people at the time it was so inconceviable that anyone would have been dumb enough to attack the US. This fed some of the belief that the attack was somehow a huge and horrible mistake.
Nice work, Nev! B) One of these years I'm going to get to work on those old armored vehicles from my youth.
