And a variety of Spitfires models intercut into the action, too.
Here's one for the train and fantasy fans. Rodney Matthews' 1985 painting Heavy Metal Hero is well known, but on his YT channel there's this video of a full 3D CGI model of it made by artist Sean Naden:

Everything you need to know to build one!
For those who havn't a clue what I'm talking about, here's the original painting, from RM's website:

Some engines had a reputation for flattening hills. In this instance, it is quite literal! :o
Any self respecting hill would move to the next county if faced by one of THEM! :o
An interesting wheel configuration too, that loco's the world's only 4-14-8, henceforward named the 'Behemoth'! ;D

At least it has a sensibly sized nosewheel, unlike the RW version. And it looks to fly pretty well too.
... and to top it of for to-day, a French Aeronavale Atlantique.
Too far away for a photo, but, RR Engines, long slender wings, and that "Je ne sais quoi" that the French give to it.
The story of the never-built successor to the Junkers 87 Stuka, the Ju-187, notable for having a movable vertical stabilizer. As it only existed in drawings and a mock up due to the war not going as planned, I'd say it woul Male an interesting Whif build:

SIX Avons? :o
That would have moved on a bit, but not for very far I reckon!
Cool triangular configuration, but are the wings big enough?? ;D
With that much thrust it could get airborne with hummingbird wings! ;D
Just needs a ZeLL! Hit Mach 1 by the time it hits the end of the launcher, Mach 2 by about 1,500ft, Mach 3 by 3,500ft, Mach 4 at 7,000ft & Mach 5 at 15,000ft, at which time it runs out of fuel & is in guided ballistic mode.

Who needs wings with that much thrust?
Found this today ... supposed to be the 'next' A-10 ... Could be a nice Whif.

This is really grabbing my attention especially as I've got both   :o
It also looks like it's got a F-15 tail on the rear too ..not twins like a normal A-10 🤔

I just thought they'd taken the background shots late Saturday night in a couple of pubs I know ?

There's another pic going around of the left side showing a tail like a Hawker Hunter. That's the pic with the unexplained intakes on the side and an F-18 single seat canopy. This one looks like it has a two seat F-14 style canopy. Whiffable.

Designed yes but where they actually built 🤔..ha Ha ! Now that's the question
Built as a side profile, certainly... ;D
Blending a Tomcat front end to an A-10 fuselage would be challenging. The Tomcat is very wide. But an interesting idea!!

I'm surprised Messerschmitt didn't do something similar IRL. It seems so obvious.
It is after all almost exactly what Yak did.
