Early Friday morning the Amtech and PM Ta 183s I have been working on were finished and the weather was clear (not raining!) so I was able to get outside and take these pics.

Sunday the weather will improve in my area and I should be able to take some better pics, Fridays pics were rushed and taken in poor lighting conditions. If the new pics are good I will post some of them Sunday night or the next weekend.

The Fw 190A is a 1/72 scale kit from Testors being built as a battle damaged a/c that made a good wheels up landing. This model will used in some of the pics I have planned for next year.

Fw 190A had wooden propeller blades, at least the later versions.
I doubt that wood would bend as such!

That Fw 190A is a very old kit and looks pretty bad compared with the newer Hasegawa and Revell kits so I decided to build it as crashed a/c.
This model is a practice model that decided to build before I attempt building 1/48 scale battle damaged 109s and 190s.

Most but not all Fw 190As had the metal prop blades, it was the very late production A-8s F-8s, and all A-9s and F-9s were fitted with the wooden props.
Aircav,
I used a nail that was heated to help bend the prop blades on my model. The tiny 1/72 scale plastic prop melts very quickly so not much heat is needed.
Some He 111s did use wooden prop blades so check your references on the plane you are modeling.

There are some very good pics of crashed Fw 190s in Jerry Crandalls ''Wings of the Black Cross'' vol. 1 and 2, and in the ''Bodenplatte'' book from Hikoki.
Most Fw 190A a/c in these books had what looked like metal props.
What you said about the wooden prop blades was quite true, most pics of Fw 190A-9 and F-9s show the wide paddle blade props.
Some A-8s when they were rebuilt also had the wooden props fitted.
I have not seen very many of the Flug Werks FW 190 photos yet, the last photos I did see of it were some taxi tests on a runway.
I have read where it has made some short flights. I hope it is part of some airshows in my part of the country so I can see it someday.

The FW Fw 190A-8/N is alive and well, it's flying all over the place right now.
They are slowly pushing the enveloppe.

I used a small vise to hold a large nail and then used a candle to heat up the nail and when it was warm enough I held the plastic prop near the nail and bent the prop as needed, I never meant it to sound like the nail should make any contact with the plastic. It is recommended to practice on an old model first to avoid any costly mistakes.
