Kit is from Italeri 1/72. The making is a bit of disaster, luckily the outcome is at least salvageable.

The most wonderful point (genius!) is the black colouring of the radar: usual on Mirage III and F.1 but very new/inventive on Mirage 2000, thanks! :thumbsup: :wub:

Oh so much sexier than Hornets.
The odd thing about the Australian competition was that it was originally due to be finalised in 1978, with F-15s likely, due to the rapid deterioration of the Mirage IIIs. But suddenly it was 'discovered' that the IIIs could last for another decade, so the competition was extended and the F-18 was able to be included...
Later in the 1980s the IIIs began to suffer serious maintenance issues, including groundings.
We could have bought Viggens in '78...
