Since Round 2's various Eagle kits are available (and I've just got one of the crappy original "1/72nd" ones from the 1970s, not the gorgeous and expensive 1/48th one), it seems both fitting and self-serving to start an ideas thread for it.
So, what can you do with an Eagle, whiff-wise?
In view of Elon Musk's recent stunt, launching his Tesla car into space as a test payload for his Falcon 9 Heavy rocket, it occurred to me to have Richard Branson using the Eagle to put a Rolls Royce on the Moon. This also gives an excuse to cover up the kit's most glaring shortcoming, namely the solid fore and aft 'cages' with flat panels carrying Virgin logos, Union Jacks and the like.
Other ideas?
Make it like a "real" space ship. You know, the ones in all the other sci fi shows.
Give it wings, a tail, engine intakes etc and lose all the practicalities that would make it work IRL.
Nothing wrong with wings on a spacecraft - you use them as radiators for reactor coolant. There's a comment by Arthur C Clarke in "The Lost Worlds of 2001" about the Discovery model being changed from what he'd scripted as "the audience wouldn't believe the wings"
Intakes? Plenty of free hydrogen in space and that is useful.
Double up the body for heavy lift with a single command pod to lifting the larger loads.
Cross kit with a Hawk to add the weapons pylons with the rocket pods for a bigger kick
Do a Marines version with added armour over the exposed structure and fuel cells and do a landing craft pod and maybe a tank landing craft using a Chieftain as they did with the moonbase tank.

All true, but radiators look very different from wings...
The Discovery radiators were apparently going to look like this before they were canned:

Here's a splendid model of a more scientifically defensible version. The triangular shape keeps the radiators within the shadow of the reactor's shield in order to prevent them being damaged by radiation:

Yes, but you and I both know that the designers of, oh lets say the Cosmo Falcon in Space Battleship Yamato 2199 were not thinking that way.
ill re post my ideas from the 1/48 scale thread
cut / paste
do a pod with pop out missile bays,
do a pod with a large clear area on one side as a tour / observation, astronomy version.
bigger / more thrusters, a high vis paint job and have a formula E racer
replace the pod with some skips, or transport containers and have a ash and trash runner.
do one in pristine colours and have it labelled as "Pre Alan Carter flight test"
make some drones and attach to the spine with a 1/3 width pod and have a picket duty bird.
give it wings, big ones
have it above a dropped pod that's deploying a parachute / parawing, as a dead drop delivery bird.
solar panels as a long endurance mission.
Here's an active Facebook group you may want to look into, if you do FB, that is:

Also Nick Macarty has been doing loads of Eagle based stuff on his page:
https://www.facebook.com/Space1999byNickMacarty/
I'll ask Nick if I can share some of his designs here.
OK, Nick gave me the thumbs up , watch this space.
p.s. Nick says he'd love to see some physical builds.

the twin tail is especially nice
but thank you for bring up all of them
Those are great Jon - thanks.
I particularly like the Rover with it's pair of 'swamp buggy' rovers on the side. You could actually use that idea for an 'exploration pod' for the normal Eagle: having the rovers on the outside would leave more space for supplies and personnel on the inside.
They are nice, I particularly like the ground base scene

This outfit do various resin Space:1999 stuff, plenty for the Eagle too.
