Yep, and another project is started...How about a soviet, jet powered, doubled hulled airtaxi? Passengers are to be seated side by side and have their own entrance just like a British train.
This Kharkiv project was actually hatched during the Soviet group-build. But wasn't started as I had to search for parts and plan the project. I think I've got most of the parts, so got started.
First some pictures of the early beginnings:

Now, fuselages got chopped up. Needed to make fuselage plugs. Made these from PVC tubing (for electrical installations, found in the DIY store) covered with 0,5 mm plastics and super glued. Cut to length and presto!
If you look close enough you'll see one of the cockpits had its canopy removed. This later to be covered with a clear "all round view" cover reminiscent to a sailplane canopy but wider.

Engines will be podded over the centre wing. The tubes in the tail sections will be cutout and holes filled. The engines I first planned to use had to be beefier to be believable. This got me wondering about converting a B-52H engine pod. These needed to be soviet-ized (turbojet, not turbo fan). Fan section will be slimmed down, bottom of the enginebays will be re-contoured like DC-9 engines as the accessories have to be covered as well.

Plan to make cockpits (left and right planned to be the same, using etch parts for a Siebel Si-204) centre wing and stabilo tomorrow. Cutout the tail engines and fill the resulting holes..
David
But what are you going to do with the rest of the B-52? :o :o :o
Ehm...use some parts for real world B-52 D and H. Maybe use wings for XB-53-like project...I dunno....yet
Very good project in this eastern double fuselage craft, thanks for the enjoyment!
Daily report on the KhAi-30.
Original tail engine is cut-out.

Cockpits are completed and painted. Left and right are equal.

Tails are putied, noses are glued on main fuselage and main fuselages are putied. Massive PSR coming up!
Anyway here a glimpse of the concept:

What did you use for the donor fuselages?

I'd guess they're VEB 1/100 scale Yak-40s, yes?
Correct, actually the nu-bee repop...
Mad as box of Cossacks.
I like very much this <_<
Chris
Time for an update!
Midwing and enginepod is finished, fuselage almost finished (still some PSR to be done).

Cheers!

That's looking pretty awesome.
Tophe will LOVE it! ;D
Yes. It's delightfully absurd. Love the cabin cockpit modifications.
It is great to see it near completion!
That does look good
Has the look of an ekranoplan about it from some angles.
That's looking sexy. Weird, but sexy.
I hope the pilots will not disagree on the itinerary! :o
