Title: Northrop B-49A Flying Wing , Dragon 1/200
Post by: wikxie on September 09, 2017, 05:09:40 AM
Hi all, This is my take on what might have been if the YB-49 had made it into service.
I imagined that it would have received the anti-flash white under side finish as well as some radar bulges, one for bomb aiming, the other for self defense in conjunction with the quad 20mm cannon tail stinger.

Looks great, good to add the bulges.

And like the white undersides- congratulations on the two hardest colors to paint (at least for me) natural metal and white!

Well done.

Thanks all
Paint used
Tamiya acrylic XF-2 for the underside
Humbrol Enamel 27002 Metalcote Polished Aluminium for the top with some panels picked out with Hum 191 Chrome Silver (although after a Tamiya acrylic clear gloss coat it was hard too spot the differance  :banghead: )

I chickened out when I built mine and did it all over anti-flash white from a rattle can. Nice metalwork

I can see enough of a difference in the panels, but understand how the clear coat can wash that out.  it is a lot of work to do natural metal panels in slightly different colors, but usually worth the effort.  Well done.
