How much whiffer can you get? A hypothetical floatplane version of an experimental Japanese fighter that was captured by the US Navy towards the end of World War II and passed on to the French navy for post-war use by the Aeronavale in Indochina. And that's about it for a backstory.

This is Hasegawa's 1/72 Kyushu JW71 Shinden modified with floats and beaching trolley from a Hasegawa Kawanishi N1K1 floatplane fighter. The Aeronavale markings are adapted from a EuroDecals de Havilland Vampire sheet and modeled on the Aichi E13A floatplanes flown in Indochina.

Absolutely wonderful  great built
Looks surprisingly good with French markings!
Sounds and looks wholly practical. Just what the Aeronavale would have needed to patrol the Med coastlines and the river estuaries in Indo-China.
Superb build.
PARLEZ VOUS FRANCAIS!
This is very cool. I already love the Shinden... then... I love the French roundels and fin flash.... this is another "why didn't I think of that!"
beautiful floatplanization !
the Rufe and N1K1 floats are very flexible for creative reuses
Sweet. Personally, I am not sold on the pusher arrangement for a floatplane - but I like the overall concept, and the Aéronavale colors suit the Shinden disturbingly well.
Great built
Hotte
Thanks folks. And yes, Dizzyfugu, I suspect this would be a sinkplane, rather than a floatplane, with all that weight at the back
Maybe a cammo device - hiding the plane under a cloud of froth and spray? ;)
Oh I like that
Reminds me of the film 'Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow'
Looks good!
Might be more practical if you moved the float backwards about half the fuselage length (+/-). ;)
ooo la la!
sacre Bleu.
Lovely build there.

Beautiful! Mad, but beautiful - I like it.
That is superb!
That is _really_ good. I've never liked those pusher concept aircraft - they look ... unbalanced ... kinda, to me. Add to that the difficulty in bailing out - Pilot Puree, anyone? - and no,not for me. However, the French have always had mad concept aircraft, so this kinda fits in, IMHO.
Please don't get me wrong - I like French aircraft. Their aircraft have always had a "cool" factor that few American aircraft can approach. Not to mention that they go their own way, and stuff the rest of the world ... :)
Thanks for the kind comments. Now what can I fit floats to next? Or turn into a flying boat, having been inspired by PR19's P6M...?
any aircraft can be improved by fitting floats (or a hull)

Congratulations from France here... There is no offense in imagining we would buy a foreign design, this one seems so good ;)
Very nice - great concept
C'est magnifique, monsieur!
Je l'aime!
C'est magnifique!
Merci buckets
Ludicrous and excellent! Now, why do I all of a sudden want to build a forward-swept wing whatiff FW190?..... ;)

Because you want to and you know you can? ;D
And because everyone here will applaud you, not censure you
Excellent job, bravo!
